STEP 1:Choose a Research Topic
1. What is Research topic?
A question or issue raised to be solved
A gap from a performance standard to
actual performance
A problem in a specific field
of Study which need
systematic
2? What can be used as criteria for
selecting a research topic?
Where lies your Research topic?
Is your topic related to your career
choice or field of study?
Is the topic interesting or
challenging?
Senior high school students have to be more acquainted
with different types of research projects on latest events. You
have to probe carefully and patiently to come out with a good
topic with sufficient data to make your research paper
competitive. You should also make sure that your paper has
the best potential of being interesting. Also, you have to
obtain your teacher's approval for your topic before
embarking on a full- scale research.

Step 2: Find Resources About the Topic

In this step, you research about the title or problem approved by

your teacher. Careful research is necessary on related
information, ideas, opinions, and studies related to your topic.

Step 3: Synthesize the Sources of Data and Information

At this stage of the research process, you must prepare a summary of

the sources used in stage 2. And that no one else has approached the
topic in the way you propose in your research topic. In the same way,
you compile information about the subject from other sources that are
confirmed by your teacher. Instead of grouping it by source, you
organize it by topic. Before gathering information about your topic, you
will receive instructions from your teacher.
Step No. 4: Develop and Finalize the Research paper

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
This section describes the objectives of your proposed study.
Example: In this proposed study, the researcher will determine the effectiveness
of using interactive multimedia on learning mathematics in senior high school.
Specifically, this study aims to:
1. determine the students' readiness in using interactive multimedia in learning
mathematics.
2. determine the effects of using interactive multimedia in the students'
academic achievement, and
3. compare the academic performance between students using interactive
multimedia and those who do not use interactive multimedia.
• Write the purpose of your study
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
• List down the persons, organization/s or communities to whom the results of
your study might be beneficial. For each the beneficiaries, write the benefits or
reason why the study will be important to them.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

(In this section, you will discuss what to be included and excluded from your
study)

DEFINITION OF TERMS
List and define the important terms of your proposed study. The definition
should be within the context of how they are used in your study
In this section, you will provide some background

CHAPTER 3 On the space below, sketch the tables and graphs
which you would expect to summarize the results of
the study.
STATISTICAL MEASURES
After completing lessons on statistics, you can now and design the statistical measures you
will use. You may organize the analyses by listing on the spaces below all the variables in your
design. It may be any one of the following:
• Demographic variable that describe the profile or characteristics of your respondents.
• Input variables of your study
• Output variables of your study
DISCUSSION, ANALYSES AND CONCLUSION RECOMMENDATION
INTERPRETATION S S
SUMMARY

Reporting and sharing findings of a research study should be done in a timely and
effective manner especially if writing a research paper is a requirement for a subject or
course. A formal research report contains a detailed description of your research
purpose, methodology, findings, conclusions and recommendations. This chapter
presents ways of reporting and sharing findings of a research study. The conclusions
are typically written at the end of the research report after all the results and findings
were discussed. What makes an effective conclusion depends on the specific question
or problem that should be thoroughly studied and answered. Effective conclusions take
the research paper beyond the summary and findings. Several strategies and
guidelines for writing an effective conclusions were thoroughly discussed in the
SUMMARY

Examples of conclusions were provided besed on actual research studies conducted by

undergraduate students. Likewise, this chapter provided guidelines in formulating
reccomendations. In addition, reccomendations may include further research on the same study
to validate the findings or amplify the results. In this chapter, the methods or style of listing
references using the American Psychological Association (APA) style was presented and examples
for each type were given. The presentation of a written research report was also discussed in this
chapter. Topics discussed included the guidelines in selecting research topic, a sample of a
research proposal format and the parts of a written research report. This chapter also discussed
and presented a Quantitative research best design using the APA style. A review checklist for a
quantitative research study was presented. A sample research workbook to guide the students in
planning their research projects are presented in this chapter.
