PREAMBLE
The course deals with the principles involved in bio-energy conversion, thermo-chemical
conversion, biogas production and biogas produces and their design and application. It
also includes the preparation of biomass from different sources and environmental
aspects of bio-energy and its assessment.

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to,

Requirements of biomass Production; Wastelands, classification and their use through
energy plantation, selection of species, methods of field preparation and transplanting.
Harvesting of biomass and coppicing characteristics. Biomass preparation techniques for
harnessing (size reduction, densification and drying).
Study of gasification for industrial process heat; Study of biodiesel production unit; Study
of biomass densification technique (briquetting, pelletization, and cubing),
