IV. Usage of instrument

1.Preparation before use

1) Please read the operation manual carefully before use the instrument.
2) Read the national standard GB/T 261-2008 Determination of Flash Point(Pensky-Martens Closed
Cup) carefully to know well of the test method, test procedure and test requirements.
3) Prepare all kinds of test tools and materials as per the requirements of GB/T261.The instrument
should be put at dark and sheltered place for the operator to observe the flash fire easily.
4) Check the instrument working condition to make sure that it is in coincidence with the
environment and condition required in operation manual.
5) Check the outer shell of the instrument to make sure it is in good ground state.

6) Pour the quantitative sample into the oil cup and then put it in the heating furnace. The stirrer will
moved by stirring motor via driving flexible shaft.Should be installed well.

2. Display interface and keyboard operation method

1) The display interface will shown as Fig.4 after switch on or press the Reset key:

Fig.4
At this time, the operator can press ▼key to move the cursor and press ▲key to change the
parameters and set states.

⑴ Set step is divided into A and B.

⑵ Automatic ignition has Open and Close.

⑶ Automatic heating has Open and Close.

⑷ The preset range of flash point is 0℃~400℃;

5
FP-261 PMCC Flash Point Tester
The instrument will automatically store the set parameters after all the parameters have been set
up .

2) At the condition of switched on or reset, press Record key the operator can get the interface shown
as Fig.5

⑴ TC is modified value. It means the difference between actual temperature and measuring
temperature.

⑵ PC is the P parameter value of PID adjustment.

Fig.5
⑶ IC is the I parameter value of PID adjustment.

⑷ DC is the D parameter value of PID adjustment.

The operator can set the parameters above at this interface.

⑴ Press the Record key to move the cursor. Then press ▲key to increase the parameter or

press ▼key to decrease the parameter. The parameter will increase or decrease rapidly if the

operator keep pressing the ▲key or ▼key.

⑵ Under general condition, the three parameters of PC,IC,DC have been set up when
leaving factory, do not need to be revised casually.
3) Under the condition of Reset, press Start key the working interface will show as Fig.6

The Temp. means the location temperature of temperature sensor. The Power means heating
power. The heating power increase as the value growing up. The Time means the relative time when
working. At this time, the instrument does not really work. Press Start key again, the instrument
starts to go into work condition and the time value begins to change.

3. Press Start key again to make the instrument to go into actual work condition of step B.
4. Under the condition of step A,the stirring rate is 250(±10r/min),and the heating rate is 1.0
(℃/min)~1.5(℃/min)。
5.Others are the same as step A.
Attention: The operator must use the instrument strictly according to the
requirements of GB/T 261-2008.

5. The automatic ignition is off state

After the instrument go into the actual working state, manually(press ▲key or ▼key.) change
the heating power to control the heating rate.

6. Record the flash point.

If the flash fire occurs in the actual working process, immediately press Record key to record the
flash point of this test. The stirring and heating will stop at this time.

V. Precautions
1. The power line must have good earth terminal to make sure of electrical safety.

2. The valve of flammable gas source must be shut after using the instrument.

3. Shut down the power switch and place it to ventilated dry place when the instrument unused.

4.Place the spare oil cup into cup base when it not heating to avoid turnover.

7
