The Unfaithful Friend

There was a big berry tree on the bank of the river. On this tree lived a monkey
named Reza. He was an intelligent and kind-hearted monkey. He offered berries to
all animals and birds that came to the river to quench their thirst.

A crocodile named Magar lived in the river. He lived with his wife in a cave at the
bottom of the river.

One day the crocodile Magar came to the river bank to catch his prey. It was a hot
and sunny day, and for the whole day, Magar had not caught anything. Tired and
hot, he trudged into the shade of the berry tree to rest.

He barely closed his eyes when he heard someone screaming at him. “Hello,
friend. I’m here.”

Magar looked up to find Reza the monkey smiling down at him. The monkey
plucked a handful of juicy berries and threw them to Magar.

“Eat this. They will quench your thirst. “

“Thank you,” said Magar and ate the delicious berries.

From that moment on, Magar came to the banks of the river every day and ate the
berries dropped by Reza. They both became good friends.

Once Magar brought some berries to his wife. She found them delicious. “Mmm
… If the berries were so delicious, how delicious would the heart of a monkey be
to eat these berries,” she said. “I want to eat this monkey’s heart.”

“How can I do this?” – answered Magar.

“He’s my friend. How can I kill him?” But his wife didn’t take no for an answer.
“If you don’t bring me his heart, I’ll starve myself,” she screamed.

So, Magar went to meet the monkey, Reza. “My wife really liked the berries you
sent her. She wants to meet you. She invited you home for dinner,” said Magar
Rese.
“I will definitely come,” Reza said, “but I can’t swim, and you live in the river.”

“Don’t worry,” Magar said, “I’ll carry you on my back.”

Resa readily jumped onto Magar’s back. Magar swam from the shore. Having
reached the middle of the river, the crocodile began to dive under the water.

“Hi! What are you doing?” Reza panicked. “I told you I can’t swim.”

“Sorry, my friend,” Magar replied. “My wife wants to eat your heart. Therefore, I
must kill you,” said Magar.

Reza realized that he was in grave danger. “Do you want my heart?” he asked in an
imperturbable voice. “Why didn’t you say this earlier? I would gladly give it to
you. We will have to go back because I usually leave my heart at home when I
leave. “

The stupid crocodile immediately turned around and swam back to the shore.

Resa immediately jumped off Magar’s back and jumped on the berry tree. “You
are a fool, Magar. How could I stay alive if I left my heart behind? You have been
an unfaithful friend. “Our friendship is over,” Reza said.
