The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (Yes-O) seeks to plan an "Earth
Day" event that will motivate students to take meaningful steps to preserve the environment
in keeping with the objective of fostering environmental awareness and conservation
initiatives.
The goals of the events are:
a. It aims to raise awareness about the pressing environmental issues facing our planet, such
as climate change, pollution, and deforestation.
b. To seek and to educate people about sustainable practices and ways to reduce their
environmental footprint. Through lectures and activities, the students can learn how to make
small changes in their daily lives that collectively make a big difference for the planet.
By having students participate in this exercise, we can help them develop a sense of
accountability and provide them the tools they need to positively influence their surroundings.
The following events are and will be done as part of the Earth Day Activity:
a. Scratch Collection per classroom. YES-O officers put designated boxes in each room,
that will serve as container for scratch papers. The purpose of collecting those papers will
be used for the upcoming Earth Day activity.
b. Clay Molding. It is a great way to boost imagination and nurture creativity to think out
of the box. At the end of the activity, each child has an individual clay model made by
them which they displayed with pride.
c. Puppet Making. Students with the aid of YES-O officers and student facilitators will form
a puppet using art materials.
d. Pot Painting. Plastic bottles that are empty will be recycled and painted. Within the
campus, the recycled plastic bottles will be planted with vegetable seedlings and placed
in designated areas.
e. Advocacy Video Making. In a video lasting between 2 to 5 minutes, each level, starting
from Grades 7-12, must have a valuable opportunity to showcase the beauty of nature,
highlight the importance of conservation, and motivate others to take steps to protect our
planet. Winners will receive a certificate and cash prize as follows:
