PROJECTS
Exploring Farmers' Market Data Using SQL: Joins, Group By, Window Functions, and Ranking
1. Introduction:
In the "Exploring Farmers' Market Data Using SQL" project, we delve into a comprehensive dataset containing information about farmers'
markets, vendors, products, and transactions. By harnessing the power of SQL techniques such as joins, group by, window functions, and
ranking, we aim to extract nuanced insights that shed light on market dynamics, vendor performance, product popularity, and consumer
behavior.
2. Dataset Description:
The dataset encompasses a wealth of data on farmers' markets and associated entities. Key attributes include Market ID, Vendor ID,
Product ID, Market Name, Vendor Name, Product Name, Transaction Date, and Transaction Amount. This data provides a foundation for
our analysis, enabling us to uncover hidden relationships and trends.
3. Objectives:
The central goals of this project encompass a range of data-driven analyses:
Market Insights: Employed joins to amalgamate market information, uncovering market locations and associated vendors.
Vendor Performance: Utilized group by and ranking techniques to identify top-performing vendors based on their product offerings and
sales.
Product Popularity: Applied window functions and ranking to pinpoint the most popular products and their performance across different
markets.
Consumer Behavior: Examined consumer spending patterns through window functions and ranking, identifying peak transaction dates
and high-value customers.
4. SQL Techniques:
Here's a glimpse of the SQL techniques which were employed to achieve our objectives:
Market Insights using Joins:
Combined market data with vendor information to create a comprehensive view of each market's vendors and products.
Retrieved market names and locations along with the vendor names and products available in each market.
Vendor Performance using Group By and Ranking:
Grouped the vendors by their IDs and count the number of unique products each vendor offers.
Ranked vendors based on the count of products they offer.
Identified the top vendors with the highest number of products.
Product Popularity using Window Functions and Ranking:
Used window functions to calculate the total transaction amount for each product across all markets.
Ranked the products based on their total transaction amount to identify the most popular products.
Consumer Behavior using Window Functions and Ranking:
Calculated the total spending for each transaction date using a window function.
Ranked the transaction dates based on total spending to identify peak spending days.
Identified the high-value customers by analyzing their total spending using a window function.
5. Expected Outcomes:
By employing these SQL techniques, we anticipated the following outcomes:
A comprehensive overview of market locations, vendors, and products through joined data.
Identification of top-performing vendors based on product offerings.
Recognition of the most popular products and their performance across markets.
Insights into consumer spending patterns, peak transaction dates, and high-value customers.
6. Conclusion:
The "Exploring Farmers' Market Data Using SQL" project leverages advanced SQL techniques to unearth intricate insights from the
dataset. Through joins, group by, window functions, and ranking, I have dissected market dynamics, vendor prowess, product popularity,
and consumer behavior. This analytical approach not only enhanced the understanding of farmers' markets but also equiped market
organizers, vendors, and stakeholders with actionable insights to optimize their operations and offerings.

Data Visualization and Analysis using Tableau with the Sample Superstore Dataset
1. Introduction:
The "Data Visualization and Analysis using Tableau" project centers around the exploration and visualization of the Sample Superstore
dataset. By utilizing advanced Tableau features such as Level of Detail (LOD) expressions, calculated fields, context filters, and interactive
dashboards, we aim to gain actionable insights into sales performance, customer behavior, and regional trends.
2. Dataset Description:
The Sample Superstore dataset comprises data on orders, customers, products, and sales across various regions. Key attributes include
Order ID, Customer Name, Product Category, Sales, Profit, and Region. This dataset forms the basis for our data visualization journey,
enabling us to uncover patterns and trends.
3. Objectives:
The project's main objectives encompass:
Sales Performance: Analyzed sales performance using calculated fields and visualize trends across different product categories and
regions.
Customer Behavior: Utilized context filters and LOD expressions to explore customer segments and their contribution to sales.
Regional Trends: Investigated regional sales patterns, identifying top-performing regions and areas for improvement.
Interactive Dashboard: Created an interactive Tableau dashboard that allows users to explore the data and gain insights on-demand.
4. Tableau Techniques:
Here's a glimpse of the Tableau techniques I have used to achieve the project objectives
Sales Performance Visualization:
Created calculated fields to calculate total sales, profits, and profit margins.
Visualized sales trends using line charts and bar graphs, segmenting data by product category and time.
Customer Behavior Analysis was done by using Context Filters and LOD:
Used context filters to focus on specific segments of data, such as high-value customers.
Implemented LOD expressions to calculate customer-level metrics such as average purchase value.
Visualized customer behavior through scatter plots and heat maps.
Regional Trends and Comparison:
Utilized bar graphs and maps to compare sales and profits across different regions.
Applied calculated fields to determine the percentage contribution of each region to total sales.
Interactive Dashboard:
Designed an interactive Tableau dashboard that integrates all visualizations.
Implemented filters and parameters to allow users to dynamically explore the data.
Created tooltips and dashboard actions for enhanced interactivity.
5. Expected Outcomes:
Through the application of these Tableau techniques, the following outcomes were achieved
Clear visualization of sales trends, highlighting of successful product categories.
Insights into customer segments and their impact on sales and profits.
Identification of regional strengths and areas for improvement.
An interactive dashboard that empowers users to interact with the data and uncover insights as needed.
6. Conclusion:
The "Data Visualization and Analysis using Tableau" project harnesses the power of Tableau's advanced features to provide insightful,
interactive visualizations from the Sample Superstore dataset. By employing calculated fields, LOD expressions, context filters, and
interactive dashboards, we not only gain deeper insights into sales performance, customer behavior, and regional trends but also create a
user-friendly platform for stakeholders to explore the data intuitively. This project demonstrates the value of data visualization in
transforming raw data into actionable insights for informed decision-making.
