Sumary

Introduction: The story TERRIBLE ISLAND was written by Omar, Alexander and Gabriel on a
unkown date.

Who: “The Dictators“, the three misserable families, Jacques, a man and the rich are all the
charcters in the story.

What: The text deals about four families that live on an island. Instead of living in peace, one
familiy decieded to take over the island and enslave the other families by making them build their
future prision and grow their own food. One day Jacques is born on the island. All the families
know him for his courage. He likes to go in front of the sea everyday, to nd out what mystery
lives behind the waves. After a man crossed the invisible wall and got killed by drones, Jecques
was in shock, to realize that there is a hidden world behind the sea. So the three families built a
tunnel to the other side, only to nd out that they were watched by the rich people the whole time.
For this reason they killed them all.

When: The auther does not tell us when the story takes place.

Where: The story takes place on an island surrounded by the sea and an invisible wall.

Why: The story ends in horror and blood, because of all the su ering the three families had to go
through. Firstly they are slaves and work hard for centuries. Secondly they nd out the world they
live in is not real and hidden. Thirdly the nd out, that they are nothing more than entertainment to
the rich. The author wants to justify their revenge through the extreme past and situation of the
families.

 Atmosphere

Geographically: The story takes place on an island, which creates a positive atmosphere. If you
are on an island you imagine the beach, the sun and in generell a lot of fun, in other words a
positive feeling. Futhermore the story takes place outdoors which potrays the feeling of freedom.

What year, season: The year neither the season is beeing mentioned in the text. But for the
reason, that Jacques is on the beach looking interested into the horizon with no need of shelter, I
could imagine the season beeing summer.

Weather: Also the weather is not mentioned by the authors. But in the hot years there is a lot of
sunshine and in autuum and winter a lot of rain -(should I conclude it this way????)

Flat/round Characters: All the characters in the story are very at, even the protagonist. There was
no depht or characterdevelopment we saw in the story. The protagonist is said to be a couraged
little boy. At the end of the story the only emotion described was the will power to ee and the
rage and hatred towards the rich. Also I could imagine the three families to be extremely
depressed and weakend.

Depht: -

Emotional State: At the end of the story, when the three families slaughtered the rich, they did not
hold back or spared any lifes. This characteristic shows me how revenge driven and cold hearted
they are. Which you could argue is understandable.

Realitionship Character and setting: -

Setting in uence the character/how: I am not convinced that the setting has any in uence on the
characters. The only thing that in uenced the characters is the slavery that they experienced. Also
they have not been decribed well enough in the text to be compared with the setting.

Would the character be di erent if the setting was: The characters would de netly not be di erent
if the setting was, because the slavery had the biggest impact on them. Only if there was no
island but a big forrest, chances would have been higher for escape and the slavery might have
never happen.
