SERIES OF 2020

A RESOLUTION HUMBLY REQUESTING THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT (OVP),

THRU MADAM MARIA LEONOR “LENI” GERONA ROBREDO, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE
REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES, TO GRANT THE 150-METERS SEAWALL PROJECT AT
BARANGAY ONE (1) IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTEEN MILLON PESOS (PHP 15,000,000.00)
IN ORDER TO SAFEGUARD THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE ACTUALLY RESIDING IN THE
AREA AS WELL AS TO PROTECT THEIR HOUSES FROM STORM SURGES DURING
TYPHOONS.

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 10121, otherwise known as the “Philippine Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Act of 2010”, it shall be the policy of the State to uphold the
people’s constitutional rights to life and property by addressing the root causes of vulnerabilities
to disasters, strengthening the country’s institutional capacity for disaster risk reduction and
management and building the resilience of local communities to disasters including climate
change impacts;

WHEREAS, the Local Government Unit of Garchitorena shall protect the life and
property of the people by addressing the root causes of vulnerabilities to disasters of the
barangays that are situated along with the coastlines of the municipality as stated in Section 2
(a) of the Republic Act No. 10121;

WHEREAS, the LGU Garchitorena shall request to the Office of the Vice President
(OVP) to grant the 150-meters Seawall Project at Barangay One (1) to protect the lives of the
residents and their houses from the threat of the storm surges in times of disasters.

WHEREAS, the LGU Garchitorena shall protect the welfare of the people of Barangay
One (1) and provide them safety by means of constructing a sea wall project in order to lessen
the adverse impact of storm surges as well as to prevent the damages on their lives and on their
houses.

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion presented by Hon. Simeon A. Dianela Jr., Committee

Chairman on Infrastructure, seconded by Hon. Reynaldo H. Castor, Committee Chairman on
Tourism, and duly concurred by all the members of the Sangguniang Bayan present;
Be it hereby RESOLVED, that this Sangguniang Bayan enacted “A RESOLUTION HUMBLY
REQUESTING THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT (OVP), THRU MADAM MARIA
LEONOR “LENI” GERONA ROBREDO, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE
PHILIPPINES, TO GRANT THE 150-METERS SEAWALL PROJECT AT BARANGAY ONE
(1) IN ORDER TO SAFEGUARD THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE ACTUALLY RESIDING IN
THE AREA AS WELL AS TO PROTECT THEIR HOUSES FROM STORM SURGES DURING
TYPHOONS”.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this resolution shall be furnish to all concerned
offices for information and references.
