The student’s answers may vary.
The procedure is you will list all the organs that you believe that is part
of our digestive system, and we will see how many correct answers
that you will get. Everyone is requested to list and recite it after 5
minutes.

Very Good Class ! now let us move on with our activity

EXPLORE

Now let us take a journey throughout the human digestive system to
see how it works and how the organs coordinate in order to carry out
the processes of digestion.

Very good class for answers. Now, we will now discuss the
digestive process.
The Digestive Process

 INGESTION is the first process that happens in digestive

system. It is the journey of taking in food or any substance
into the body through the mouth. The journey of food starts
when a bit of crackers enters your mouth. Both chemical and
mechanical digestions begin immediately in the mouth.

The foods will be cut into tiny

What do you think will happen if you chew the foods? pieces.
Yes, you are right. And that is an example of mechanical digestion,
it involve the physical changes in the food.

How about the chemical digestion? What gland is involves in this? The student will answer salivary
glands
Correct! They produce salivary amylase to breakdown
carbohydrates and turn the food into bolus, for the digestion in
stomach

 ABSORPTION -It occurs mostly in the small intestine

where several digestive juices, pancreatic juice, and bile aid
in the chemical digestion of food.
 Absorption is the process of passing the soluble food
molecules in the wall of the small intestine through the villi
– the tiny, finger-like projections from the epithelial lining of
the intestinal wall.

 Each villus contains blood capillaries that enable it to absorb

water, glucose, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and fatty
acids. It also increases the amount of surface area available
for the absorption of nutrients.

The student will answer Circulatory

We have mentioned capillaries. In what organ system does the
capilliaries belong? Sytem

Correct! But the question is, in many other type of blood vessel why
is that the cappiliaries are present in the small intestine for the student answers may vary
absorption?

It is because in the capilliaries is where oxygen and nutrients are

exchange for carbon dioxide and waste.

Another question, if the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide The student will answer
happen in capilliaries, after this process oxygen is delivered in all Respiratory System
parts of the body, what is the other organ system responsible for our
respiration?

ASSIMILATION
It is the movement of digested food nutrients into the blood vessels
of the small intestine through diffusion and use of nutrients into the
body cells through the microvilli – microscopic cellular membrane
projections that serves to expand the surface area for diffusion and
also to lessen any increase in volume

So, why is it capilliaries are present in small inrestine for

assimilation? the student will answer that in the
capillaries is where nutrients are
absorb and exchange
Now, the nutrients are now exchange for waste, and we are now
down on the last process of digestion.

EXCRETION- is the last process that occurs in the digestive

system. It is the release of undigested food collected in the rectum
called feces and pushed out of the body through the anus by
defecation.

If we excrete wastes in our body what other organ system is

involve?
The student will answer excretory
Correct, because they’re the one responsible in eliminating waste in System
the body and our anus is one of them. Why is it so?
Because through the anus feces is
pushed out of the body

Our digestive system is an important organ system in our body.

But sometimes, we tend to abuse it or not taking care of it.

For example, you drink a lot of softdrink in a day. You felt your
chest ache after the day. What is the common diagnosis of that? The students will answer they’ve
an acid or it may vary.
Yes, it is the ACID REFLUX or HYPERACIDITY

When you eat meals late or skip it, and you continue it for a long
period of time, what disease can you get?
The students will answer ulcer or
Yes, it is the GASTRIC ULCER it may vary

We felt discomfort when we experience that right?

So we must take care of our digestive system
