A: So, how are you getting on here? I mean you’re living … the most people who
come from … to work, and you got a really nice American accent. So, I don’t suppose
you have any communication problems in the office. You might find some …
Australian slang most difficult to understand.
B: Hehe, well a bit, but I have met that many Australians yet a sight of work, I mean.
A: Right.
B: But could you tell me a bit about the International Club now I’ve joined?
A: Sure. We got err…see currently about 50 members, but people join all the time. So
I think that figure will grow up. Last year, we had 30 members, and the year before
just … so we’re growing and getting better known. I reckon that is this right next year
we have about 80.
B: And, does the club hold a regular meeting?
A: Yes. Every second … evening in fact. So, a couple of times a month. Of course,
when you start making friends, you begin together with them more often that, I guess.
The next meeting will be next Thursday from … ah yes, that’s right.
B: And what happens for the club meet? I mean what .. organize.
A: You usually think it is one of the members to give a little presentation about where
they’re from, their customs, and so on. But some out of time, they do other things,
else things place… Sydney or may go out to eat together in a restaurant or go to …
together or something like that.
B: OK, that sounds fun. And, the members… people from other countries, not
Australian, are they?
A: No, not at all. The main point of the club is to keep people like you but trans and
mix in more people with people from this country. People of all like this. You find …
very friendly. I think the contact … positive effect on visitors to this country. And, in
fact, … well. You know, it … in… experiences for everybody. And of course, you
should get a trans to do all social activities with other members of this club if you
want to. It’s not just talking, and hopefully, you make friends with people who have
similar interests.
B: It sounds great. I’m really looking for the first meeting.
