1. INTRODUCTION

The "UD210" is a complete crushing plant mounted on a chassis. It is mainly intended to be

used by public works contractors and quarries, in jobs that require constant displacements and
minimum erection and installation time. It eliminates completely the inconveniences caused by
successive erections, dismounts and transports that would have to take place with conventional
installations.

The chosen equipment, as well as the close circuit secondary crushing, guarantee a flexible
operation, and allow obtaining classified stone that obeys pre-established sieve-size ranges. All
material can be reduced to passing 3/4 in.

2. CONSTRUCTIVE DETAILS

The new concepts and solutions that have been applied make the present design unrivaled
when compared to the mobile crushing plants of its class.

The principal characteristics of the "UD210" are:

- Compact Design:

The transport is very easy; the total length is only 15.0 m.

- Three-deck Multi flo Screen:

It allows up to four classifications with its 5.4 m² (3.6 m x 1.5 m) screening area, and provides
a high screening efficiency, even when the fines content is high.

- Chassis and running gear type:

The chassis is equipped with a double axle rear bogie, with semi-elliptic leaf spring
suspension. Each axle is fitted with two sets of twin tires 10 in. x 12 in. size - 12 or 14 ply. The
load distribution on the axles complies with the majority of the road transport laws. It comes
equipped with air brakes and backlights, including stop lights connected to the brakes.

- Closed Circuit

The unit uses one sandwich type lifting conveyor (also denominated Scorpion looping belt
conveyor) in order to close the secondary crushing circuit.

7.2 Check after every 50 hours of operation:

The oil level at the following points:

- The gear reducers of all conveyors;
- The CH420 (Hydrocone H-2800 EC) oil reservoir.

7.3 The lubricating system

The lubrication plan and lists of the recommended lubricants can be found in the enclosed
machine manuals.

7.3 Operating and maintenance instructions for Belt Conveyors

Gearboxes

Oil filled gearboxes is usually supplied without oil and require filling to the correct level with
suitable oil for the conditions under which they will work.

Before filling, clean the filler and oil level plugs and the surrounding areas to avoid the possibility
of any foreign matter being introduced into the gearbox, which will cause wearing of the gears
and eventual breakdown of the gearbox, then remove the filler and oil level plugs and fill the
gearbox until the oil flows from the oil level plug hole then replace both plugs securely.

The oil level plug must always be removed before filling or topping up since excessive oil will
result in oil leakage and overheating.

Regularly check the oil level, every one to three weeks, and top up when required as too little oil
will give inadequate lubrication resulting in early breakdown of the gearbox.

The oil should be changed as per gearbox recommendations (see manual M-338).
Belt Tracking

Before starting the conveyor, it is essential to check that:

1) The conveyor structure is straight and correctly leveled.

2) The head, tail, snub etc. pulleys are correctly fitted i.e. they are level, and that there axes are
square to the center line of the conveyor.

3) All troughing and parallel idler are correctly fitted with their axes square to the center line of
the conveyor, the side roller lead is in the correct direction, and all rollers are rotating freely.

4) All self-aligning idlers, when fitted are pivoting freely.

5) In the case of gravity or other forms as automatic take-up, the take-up assembly is free to
move.
MOBILE CRUSHING PLANT MB-204
“UD210”
May/03 13/23

6) In the case of screw-type gear, that these are adjusted initially to take up slack from the belt
and that equal tension is applied to each side such that the pulley is square to the center line
of the conveyor.

7) Where skirt rubbers are fitted they are not bearing down heavily on to the belt.

8) There is no obstruction on the conveyor that could cause accident or damage when the
conveyor is started.

Tracking should normally be carried out with the belt empty. With very stiff belts, which do not
trough well nor make proper contact with the center idlers roller when empty, it may only be
possible to track the return strand when empty and the troughed side when loaded.

If the belt tends to run to one side the most likely cause of the trouble will usually be some
distance before the point where the running off is apparent, and in the case of troughed strand
probably at the second or third idler behind the point where the belt is moving out of its true line.
This fault is belt corrected whilst the belt is running and the idlers behind the movement turned
forward on the side of the movement (see instruction manual MT-001/item 5) .

In the case of the belt is loaded, verify also if the material transfer point is centralized to the
center of the conveyor. Correct, if necessary.

Parallel and return idlers being flat do not provide the same aligning influence as do troughing
idlers but by moving them in the same way as troughing idlers they will provide a constant
corrective effect in one direction.

Belt Scrapers

Inspect regularly and ensure that only the scraper blade is in contact with the belt. Never let the
metal frame scrape the belt as severe damage to the belt will result, particularly at the
fasteners.

Tension Gear

Screw Take-Up

Before adjusting the tension screws ensure the tension drum (roller) has its axes square to the
center line of the conveyor then move each bearing a small distance at a time, to prevent
excess strain being applied to the belt and drum shaft bearings, until the correct tension is
achieved, is the drum starts the belt and continues is moving when loaded without any slip
occurring.

Do not over-tension the belt as this will cause premature breakdown of the bearings and
elongation of the belt.

When all the screw tension has been taken-up and slip occurs is will be necessary to shorten
the belt.
MOBILE CRUSHING PLANT MB-204
“UD210”
May/03 14/23

Bearings

Bearings must not be over greased as this will cause rapid temperature rise resulting in excess
wear.

Grease gun fitting and grease nipples must be wiped clean immediately before regreasing as
the entry of a little grit can ruin a bearing.

It must be emphasized that certain standard bearing components, such as cages, will only be
suitable for working in a temperature range of -10° C to +90° C. Special bearings are required
for working at higher temperatures.

Recommended lubrication for self-lube and re-greasable bearings is:

- Shell Alvania grease R2 for a temperature range of -35° C to +100° C.

- Shell Alvania grease R3 for a temperature range of -35° C to +135° C.

Idlers Rollers

Troughing and Parallel

These are fitted with sealed-for-life grease packed ball bearings, suitable for operating in a
temperature range of -23° C to 120° C and require no greasing or oiling.

Regular inspection is necessary to ensure that the rollers are able to rotate freely. Any
obstruction should be removed and rollers in the vicinity examined for excessive wear.

Feed Boot and Skirt Plates

Must be regularly checked to ensure that they are feeding material centrally on to the belt and
the rubber sealing strips adjusted so as to be just touching the conveyor belt - not hard down
onto the belt.

If the sealing strips bear down hard on to the conveyor belt they can cause gouging or stripping
of the top cover and the belt to move off center, plus premature wear of belt.

Guards

All guards should be kept in position and well maintained. Any damage should be repaired
immediately.

10. LOOPING BELT CONVEYOR

10.1 Changing the Belt

The belt of the smaller looping conveyor shall be substituted by a new one with a
pre-vulcanized splice.
For its installation the following procedure is recommended:

• Slacken the bigger looping belt as much as possible by moving the tensioning pulleys
in the direction contrary to the tensioning direction;
• Slacken the tension of the tensioning pulley of the smaller looping belt;
• Remove the used belt, cutting it if necessary;
• The idler supports are pivoted (see figure 1), and it is generally not necessary to
remove them. Pivot them in order to obtain a greater clearance when fitting one belt
on the top of the other existing one;
• Dismount the fixed upper and lower (return) pulleys, fit the belt of the smaller looping
conveyor and mount again the fixed pulleys;
• Return the idler supports to there working positions, bolting them down adequately.

For the substitution of the bigger looping conveyor belt, there are two alternatives:

• 1ª) Without a pre-vulcanized belt:

- Slacken the looping belt as much as possible by moving the tensioning pulleys in the
direction contrary to the tensioning direction;
- Remove the used belt, cutting it if necessary;
- Dismount the tensioning pulley next to the head end of the conveyor (in order to
facilitate the necessary overlapping when vulcanizing);
- Place the new belt and vulcanize it;
- Mount the removed pulley and tension the belt in accordance with the item 10.2 this
manual.

• 2ª) With a pre-vulcanized belt:

- Follow the first two steps of the foregoing item;

- After that, remove the pulleys that belong to this conveyor and the carrying idlers
(supports and rollers);
- Put the vulcanized belt in place and mount again the pulleys and the carrying idlers in
their original positions;
- Tension the belt in accordance with item 10.2 of this manual.

10.2 Tensioning of the Belt

In order to tension the belt in the correct way, observe the following instructions and the
illustrations in figure 2:

1- Tension the smaller looping belt until reaching the dimension indicated in section “AA”.
Consider this value as minimum. Excessive tensioning will trough the belt on rolls, being not
suited;
2- The bigger looping belt is tensioned by tightening the tail pulley up to get the minimum
deflection indicated on the detail “B”. Before make it, locate the intermediate tensioning
pulley approximately on the middle of its travel;
3- Observe the “sandwich” formed by the two belts and check that there is a slight pressure at
the edges (see figure “C”);

After these steps have been taken, check that:

1- The driving pulley does not slip (condition for traction) under load;
2- There is no spillage of material at the border of the “sandwich” under conditions of maximum
belt loading.

For the best useful life the belts, try to minimize as much as possible the tensioning of them.
The optimum point of the tensioning is determined in a practical way, considering the slackening
of the tail pulley up to still get the conditions defined on items 4 and 5.

IMPORTANT
Excessive belt tensioning will cause rapid wear and deterioration of the belts.

NOTE

The small looping conveyor belt does not show any plies at the belt edge. For reposition, please
look up the specification in the Parts Manual.
