Child Safety

using concepts of combinational and

sequential logic

By: Shaikha Almajed

The Problem:
A child's safety has to have top priority to ensure they stay out of harm's way and
always be secure. Kids are very susceptible to harm as they are easily taken
advantage of.
Thousands of children go missing or get kidnapped every year so what's a way to fix
a problem to help put all parents at ease and keep children safe and protected.

By using combinational and

sequential logic and FSM to build
a system/device to prevent
children from going missing or
being abducted. Guaranteeing a
child's' safety in different
environments and situations.
Solution and Implementation:
Product: a wearable device for children. This smart device incorporates a range of sensors
and communication functionalities specifically designed to ensure child safety and protection.
Input: Output:
1. The GPS location signals from the 1. Real-time GPS location signals sent to
GPS sensor. the parent.
2. SOS signal trigger, this is activated 2. As soon as the SOS is triggered
by the child.
notifications are sent to parents and

temperature. 3. If the child's health data is not normal,
4. Parents or guardians can send notifications are sent to parents.
messages to the child to read. 4. The child can respond to the parents
5. Geo-Fencing, all safe areas defined messages.
by parents. 5. If the child's leaves the safe areas defined
by the parents, alerts are sent to the
parent.

Combinational circuits: it can be used as an SOS button. There will be an instant activation
when the SOS button is pressed. They can also be used to track real-time health levels of the
child.

Sequential Logic: The device itself will have a record on all the important locations the child is
familiar with. It will also save the new locations for monitoring in case the child is in an
unfamiliar place. This allows continuous location tracking.

Latches: used to store the current state of the SOS button. This ensures that if it is activated,
it stays in the activated state until manually reset.

Finite State Machine: can have many states to cover all the different situations and
circumstances. This device can have the following states:
1. Normal state: tracking location and monitoring health levels.
2. Geo Fence Alert State: alerts are sent when the child leaves safe areas.
3. SOS state: activating the alert process when the SOS button is pressed.
