HOW TO MEASURE REDUCED LEVEL OF
DIFFERENT POINT USING THE RISE AND FALL
METHOD.
7.1 OBJECTIVE:
 To find the unknown Reduce level of a point using Rise and fall
method.
 Quick method and more accurate than HI also no required of I.S.
7.2 INSTRUMENT:
 Auto level machine
 Tripod stand
 Staff rod
7.3 THEORY:

 LEVELING:
Levelling may be defined as the art of determining the
relative heights or elevation of points or objects on the earth’s surface.
 PRINCIPLE OF LEVELING:
The principle of levelling is to obtain
horizontal line of sight with respect to vertical distance of point above or
below this line of sight are found.

 RISE AND FALL METHOD:

It consists of determining the
difference of elevation between consecutive points by comparing
each point after the first that immediately preceding it. The difference
between there staff reading indicates a rise fall according to the staff
reading at the point.
 AUTO LEVEL:
An auto level is an optical instrument that can be
used to establish or verify points on the same horizontal plane, and it

has an internal mechanism that eliminates variation and inaccuracy
from measurements.

7.4 PROCEDURE:
It consists of determining the difference of elevation
between consecutive points by comparing each point after the first that
immediately preceding it. The difference between there staff reading
indicates a rise fall according to the staff reading at the point.
 In this system, there is no need to determine R.L. of plane of
collimation .The difference of level between consecutive points is
obtained as described below.
 Determine the difference in staff readings between the consecutive
points comparing each point after the first with that immediately
preceding it.
 Obtained the rise or fall from the difference of their staff reading
accordingly to the staff reading at the point is smaller or greater than
that of proceeding point.
 Find out the reduced level of each point by adding the rise to or
subtracting fall from the R.L. of a preceding point.

 ARITHMETIC CHECK:
The difference between the sum of back
sight and the sum of Fore sight= difference between the sum of rise and
the sum of fall = the difference between the last R.L. and the first R.L.
SUM OF B.S-SUM OF F.R =LAST RL- FIRST RL
(20.32) - (24.29) =1195.4616-1199.4315
3.97=3.97

7.6 CONCLUSION:
As we Find the reduce level of an unknown point with the help of rise
and fall method, its accurate method and after performing this practical
now we are able to find reduce level of any unknown point.
 REFRENCES:
Theory is obtained from Google searches.
