E197 Error Code Countermeasure August 31,
2015

This Technical Publication covers a countermeasure to resolve E197-0001 / 0008 Error Codes.

DETAILS:
Symptom:
E197-0001 / 0008 Error Codes may occur after replacing the Upper Fixing Unit.
• E197-0001: Error in Main Driver PCB Connection Detection.
• E197-0008: Error in Fixing Drawer Connector Connection Detection.
Cause:
When replacing the Upper Fixing Unit; if the Fixing Thermal Switch (J3202) and the Fixing
Cleaning Web Level Sensor Connectors (J3207) are not correctly connected, the +5Volt and
Ground (GND) signals for both Sensors will be short-circuited through the Thermal Switch.
This can also cause the +5Volt Pico Fuse (FU15) on the Main Driver PCB Assembly to open and
result in the above-mentioned error codes.
It is incorrect to have the yellow and white wires connected together. It is also incorrect to have the
purple and gray wires connected together (Figure 1 [A]). Figure 1 [B] as well as Figure 3 shows
the correct connections.

Note: When wired incorrectly it will not be possible to place both wires in the Cable Clamp [2]
(Figure 2 [A]). When wired correctly both wires will fit through the Cable Clamp [2] (Figure
2 [B]).

3. The purple and white wires [3] are connected to the same Relay Connector [1] (Figure 3).
Note: Make sure that the connecters on both sides of the Relay Connecter [1] (Figure 3) are the
same color:
Orange (yellow wire) and Orange (gray wire) [2] connectors
White (purple wire) and white (white wire) [3] connectors.

If an E197-0001 / 0008 error code occurs due to the incorrect connection, properly reconnect the
connector and replace the Main Driver PCB Assembly (P/N: FM4-1083-000).
