SAPONIFICATION

Chemical reaction of an alkali (i.e. lye) with a fatty acid (i.e.


animal/vegetable fats/oils)
Glycerine, a by-product of the reaction, takes several days to form
during cold process.

Apricot Kernel Oil - high in vitamin E, absorbed easily by skin
Avocado Oil, Virgin
Castor Oil – makes a heavy lather
Cocoa Butter – softens and moisturises skin
Coconut Oil – used for firm soap and makes large bubbles
Hemp Seed Oil – moisturises, revives and repairs damaged skin
Macadamia Oil – adds silky texture to soap
Olive Butter
Olive Oil
Palm Kernel Oil
Palm Oil – makes firm soap with smooth, creamy bubbles
Rice Bran Oil – gentle and moisturising
Rosehip Oil – high in vitamin A
Shea Butter
Wheat Germ Oil – high in vitamins A, D and
E plus Beta Carotene
