INSPECTION
1 PURPOSED
This Work Instruction will be as the guideline for Maintenance personnel to perform
Limestone Slurry Pump Disassembly and Inspection.
2 SCOPE
This Work Instruction will be applied for Limestone Slurry Pump Disassembly and
Inspection at Tanjung Jati B Power Plant. The works not mentioned in this instruction
will be performed in accordance with drawings and appropriate specifications then will be
considered to be added in this Work Instrcution later. This Work Instruction is refer to
O&M manual from OEM.
3 RESPONSIBILITY
 The Maintenance Manager has responsibility for updating this instruction.
 The Maintenance Engineer has responsibility to control maintenance works made
according to the instruction and co-ordinate with other teams during planning and
report activities to the Maintenance Manager.
 The Maintenance Engineer and Supervisor have responsibility to plan, supervise and
report of maintenance works which are undertaken in accordance with this procedure.
 The Maintenance Technician has responsibility to implement the Works Instruction in

4 DETAIL OF WORKS
4.1 Preparation
1. Work should be carried out by three people.
2. Prepare all necessary drawings (part details drawing number D701471-15 R2, bearing
assembly drawing number MK03506 and inspection report form (replacement parts
record and vibration data record) prior to start of work.
3. Prepare the necessary parts, tools and equipment before commencing actual work.
4. Co-ordinate with Civil Section to provide access and lifting
5. Confirm that the equipment is isolated and a permit to work is available before
commencing work.
6. Prepare a suitable lay-down area.
7. Remove the auxiliary piping, piping supports and all instruments that may interfere
with the disassemble/reassemble procedures

4.2.4 Tools and Special Tools

1. Webbing sling length 4 meter end loop capacity 2 Ton, 1 set.
2. Socket set: 14 mm, 17 mm, 19 mm, 24 mm, 27 mm, 30 mm, 36 mm.
3. Combination spanner set: 14 mm, 17 mm, 19 mm, 24 mm, 27 mm, 30 mm, 36 mm.
4. L-key 7 mm
5. Adjustable wrench 36 inch.
6. Pipe wrench (medium size), length 14 inch with 2 inch fitting capacity.
7. Chain wrench rated pipe capacity 2 inch.
8. Hammer, punch, screw driver set, measuring tape, ruller length 1000 mm.
4.3 Removal belt driver and cover

1. Loosen and removal clamping bolts by socket and combination spanner 14 mm.
2. Remove right side after loosen support bolts by socket and combination spanner 19
mm.
3. Remove left side after loosen support bolts by socket and combination spanner 19
mm.
4. Arrange the cover in the lay down area which prepare before.
5. Clean the upper and lower cover.
6. Loosen the adjuster bolts by adjustable wrench 36 inch to decrease belt drive tension.
7. Remove belt drive and arrange in the lay down area which prepare before.

4.4 Removal pump pulley and sheave

1. Loosen the three pulley bolts by combination spanner 19 mm and push the pulley out
of the sheave.
2. Loosen the sheave by inserting negative screw driver and pull out the sheave out of
shaft.
3. Remove the pulley as well after sheave removal.
4. Arrange the pulley and sheave in the lay down area which prepare before.
5. Clean the pulley and sheave by WD40.
4.5 Removal NDE suction casing

1. Removal suction pipe before suction casing by lossening and remove flange bolt use
socket and combination spanner 27 mm and 30 mm.
2. Arrange the suction pipe in the lay down area which prepare before.
3. Loosen and remove the bolts NDE casing by socket and combination spanner 30 mm.
4. Open and put the suction NDE casing in the lay down area which prepare before.
5. Inspection and repair the rubber lining of suction casing.

4.6 Removal Pump Impeller

1. Lock the impeller by pipe and rotate the shaft (reverse pump rotation) in the sheave
position by chain wrench to un lock the impeller on the shaft.
2. Loosen the impeller by hand, remove the impeller and put in the lay down area which
prepare before.
3. Inspection and repair the rubber lining of the impeller.

4.7 Removal Mechanical Seal

1. Loosen the static mechanical seal adjuster bolts by combination spanner 17 mm to
make easier for access.
2. Remove the mechanical seal rotating part from impeller side then put in the lay down
area which prepare before.
3. Loosen and removal clamping bolt mechanical seal static part by combination spanner
14 mm the continue removal mechanical seal static part after shaft (included in
bearing chamber removal).
4. Inspection, clean and lapping rotating and statics silicon carbide meeting face.

4.8 Removal bearing chamber

1. Loosen and remove bearing chamber stud bolt by combination spanner 24 mm.
2. Tie the bearing chamber by webbing sling length 4 meter end loop capacity 2 Ton, lift
up and transfer to the lay down area which prepare before by scaffolding pipe with
two people.

4.9 Bearing and oil seal replacement

1. Remove bearing casing by loosen the stud bolt 4 ea use combination spanner 19 mm.
2. Remove oil seal in the bearing casing by screw driver.
3. Remove the bearing by tracker and heating up the bearing by burner.
4. Clean the shaft for new bearing installation.
5. Heating up the new bearing by bearing heater one by one, DE and NDE bearing,
install the new bearing and setting the bearing in certain position.
6. Install the oil seal one by one, DE and NDE side bearing chamber cover.
7. Install the bearing chamber cover DE and NDE.
4.10 Reassembly
1. Tie the bearing chamber by webbing sling length 4 meter end loop capacity 2 Ton, lift
up and Install, setting and lock the bearing chamber in certain current position by
combination spanner 24 mm.
2. Install mechanical seal static part before inserting bearing chamber (including shaft)
in to impeller housing then lock combination spanner 14 mm.
3. Insert Mechanical Seal Rotating Part assembly from impeller side.
4. Install and lock the impeller on shaft by pipe and rotate the shaft (as pump rotation) in
the sheave position by chain wrench.

5. Tighten little bit mechanical seal adjuster bolts by combination spanner 17 mm. do
not tighten to much, final adjustment will be done during running test.
6. Install and setting the suction NDE casing then tigthen the bolts by socket and

direction) use combination spanner 19 mm.

8. Install and setting suction pipe then tigthen the bolts by socket and combination
spanner 27 mm and 30 mm.
9. Installation sheave and pulley. Tightening and lock the three pulley bolts by
10. Installation new belt drive and adjust the belt tension use 1 meter length ruler. The
standard tensioning deflection is 1/64 inch for every inch (0.000615 mm) of span
length. The tensioning deflection for min 465 mm span (from outline arrangement
drawings number D701471-15 R2 will be (0.000615 mm x 465 mm) = 0.285 mm.

11. Installation right side then tightening support bolts by socket and combination spanner
19 mm.
12. Installations left side then tightening support bolts by socket and combination spanner
19 mm.
13. Installations and tightening clamping bolts by socket and combination spanner 14
mm.
4.11 TESTING AND RECORDING COMPLETION OF WORK

1. After inform, get permition (from PTW officer) and coordinate with operator, please
do running test, record bearing vibration parameter and temperature, record discharge
pressure and flow through to absorber.
2. While in progress running test, please do nice housekeeping to clean our work place
from exused spare parts, remaining consumable, cotton rag and other rubbish. Also
please check and clean our tools (keep our personal tools is complete) to do next other
works.
3. After pump performance is acceptable, please do not forget to closed the PTW and
handed over the pump to operator to operate and follow normal operation.
4. All data should be recorded in the inspection report form (replacement parts record
and vibration data record).
5. Supervisor will keep those inspection reports and upload to Work Order attachment in
Maximo during finishing (including fulfilling actual date started & finished,
Competence Person and engineering comment).
