Part 3
VENERATION OF THE CROSS
Priest goes to the back of the Church with servers and choir to unveil the cross in three
stages. (3 x song This is the that… answer let us adore Him) till in front of the Church.
- Priest and servers adore the cross (kneel in front the cross with 4 people - bowl – pay
respect 3 hand claps – bowl and the next do the same)
- People come to venerate in the same way, start from front.
- At the end the venerated cross is put on a special stand
- All those who made a personal cross for Lent bring back their crosses, while at the
same time a collection is held for the needs of the Holy land.

Part 4 Holy Communion
A cloth is spread on the altar, and a corporal and the missal put in place. Meanwhile the
Deacon or, if no Deacon, the Priest himself putting on a humeral veil, brings the Blessed
Sacrament back from the place of repose to the altar by a shorter route while all stand in
silence.
After Communion the ciborium is taken to a place prepared outside the church or, if
circumstances so require, it is placed in the tabernacle.

FEAST OF HOLY SATURDAY – LITURGICAL PROGRAM

Mass 19:00 hrs. (Baptism, and First Holy Communion)
Preparations:
- Firewood, Paschal Candle, Water, Stand, Containers, Towels, Soap, Basins, Buckets,
Purple linen, Medium/Big candles, Mats, Pillows, Carpet, and Decoration
- Ceremonies led by Area Council
Part 1 Blessing of the Fire and Preparation of the Candle
- Introduction by MC
Blessing of the candle: outside, in the dark
- Introduction and blessing of the fire by the Celebrant
- Celebrant writes the sign of the cross on the Easter Candle (Alpha and Omega and the
year).
- Puts the 5 wounds of Jesus (with incense)
Entrance procession with the Paschal candle:
- Celebrant with Pascal Candle Alter servers, choir, then those to be baptized.
- Then all those present.
- At the entrance – in the middle – and – in front: Kuwala kwa Kristu (choir)
- At each of those moments those present lit their candles. (no lights in Church)
Easter proclamation
- Celebrant puts the Easter Candle on the stand
- Incenses the candle and the Bible
- Announces that the Lord is risen. Prayer
- Choir continues to praise the Easter Candle “The Christ Risen”

Part 3 Baptismal Liturgy
- Introduction by MC
After the Homily the Baptismal Liturgy begins. Catechumens are called forward and
presented by their godparents in front of the assembled church. The Litany is sung before
baptism. The address should occur before the Blessing of the Water. When the Rite of
Baptism has been completed, all stand with lighted candles in their hands and renew the
promise of baptismal faith. The newly baptized are led to their place among the faithful.
Part 4 Liturgy of the Eucharist
- It is desirable that the newly baptized bring forward the bread and wine.
- The newly baptized start to receive accompanied by their Godparents, followed by the
newly admitted accompanied by their Godparents.

Announcements: only about Sunday.
Recession: song
- All leave the Church with their candles lit, taking the “Risen Lord” home!!!
