This West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Malay Traditional House is located in the Cultural Village

Complex, Jalan Sutan Syahrir, Pontianak City. Historically, the construction of this Malay
Traditional House began with the erection of the first pillar on May 17 2003 until it was
completed in 2005. Furthermore, on the 9th November 2005 The West Kalimantan Malay
Traditional House was inaugurated by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf
Kalla. Since its inauguration, the building stands on an area of 1.4 hectares and has become the
center/venue for various activities, wedding receptions and one of the destinations for visits by
local and foreign tourists. The architectural art and typology of the traditional Malay house is a
house on stilts or with a roof, and has high pillars. This is in accordance with the local climate
and customs that have been passed down from generation to generation. The beauty of the Malay
Traditional House area is even more beautiful with the garden decorated with neatly arranged
flowers. Not only that, this building is decorated with a beautiful and clean fountain

While overseas, he intended to build a settlement, which was marked by clearing forest
land at the junction of the Landak River and the Kapuas River. It is said that the determination of
this area was based on the cannon shot that Syarif Abdurrahman fired to chase away the ghost of
Kuntilanak when he sailed across the Kapuas River. Where the cannon falls, that is where a
settlement will be built. Over time, this area was successfully developed into a prosperous trade
center. Until finally in 1778 (1192 H), Syarif Abdurrahman was confirmed as Sultan of
Pontianak. The location of the center of government was marked by the construction of the
Kadariyah Palace and the Jami' Mosque (now called the Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Mosque)
which is now located in Dalam Bugis Village, East Pontianak District. This area is better known
as Kampung Beting. Inside the Kadariyah Palace you can find royal relics such as throne chairs,
clothes, a thousand broken mirrors, keris, jade tables, cannons and so on. This building measures
30 x 50 meters, making it the largest palace building in West Kalimantan. The foundation of the
palace building is mostly made of belian wood, has quite magnificent architecture and is covered
in yellow paint which symbolizes the greatness of the Malay kingdom
