Technical Report # 3
1. Executive Summary
The most important necessity for all living being is the food nourishment. However, it
is often neglected due to the busy workloads particularly students and people of the corporate
world. In the Philippines, one of the most enjoyed food of people of all status is noodles. With
the growing food technology and development, innovation like vending machine has been in
the trending direction. Particularly, vending machine that offers noodle meals could appeal
the busy students and professionals alike. These people would be the ideal target market.
However, noodle business is not born yesterday and thus, there are a lot of competitors in this
type of business. Stores like 7-Eleven, Oishi Ramen Bai, Streetfood Asia and the likes offer
noodle dishes. Nevertheless, our company Swift n’ Ready, is a noodle vending machine that
offers customizable noodle meals from the noodle itself, soup and toppings. Moreover,
vending machine would allow customers to access without the need of salesperson. For this

officer, finance manager, product development manager and operation manager along with
hardworking and smart workers are required. To begin this endeavor, the four investors invest
493,110,929.17 php which totals an amount of 1,972,443,716.68 php. These will be used to fund
the necessities in the business like pre-operating expenses, land, building and machinery costs
as well as other fixed assets and intangibles which sums up into ₱11,950,000. With this, the
There are different instant foods available in the market namely hotdogs, sausages,
nuggets, spams, etc. Still, the most common and well-liked particularly in the
Philippines is in the form of noodles. According to Arozado2, noodles is an often
substitute for rice meals or snacks and can even be eaten alongside with these foods
abovementioned. Moreover, it can be eaten in all kind of situations, either late evening
snacks, breakfast, in-between meals, and the likes. However, this presents a problem
that instant noodle dishes are often bought inside a store with frequent long lines of
waiting. In addition, stores are close at night in most areas, which inconvenience people
of all ages2,3. The idea of having the instant noodles be sold in vending machine is one
of the more tantalizing solution in dealing with this problem 4.
Vending machines can be located schools, offices, kiosks and the likes which gives
convenience to a lot of people. However, one of the common problems when it comes
to vending machine is its inflexibility in terms of payment. With the shifting trend of
mobile payment, bank transfer, digital wallets and all other kinds of cashless payments,
Page 2 of 29

it would be beneficial for a vending machine to allow these types of payment instead
of being limited to traditional payment. Furthermore, this aids the customer in
problems of not having an exact amount of money, which might be a trivial thing but
greatly benefits in a long run since it really is one of the most common problems in
vending machines5.
Instant noodles are usually packaged in a form of a cup, hence called cup noodles.
These cup noodles are pre-manufactured and made from different companies, which
limits the customer to its different combination for its noodle dish. These cup noodles
have already a distinguished flavor for a customer to choose from. Additionally, the
dish itself lacks ingredients as most of its flavor comes from the seasoning itself as well
as the one responsible for giving the soup its taste. Moreover, this cup noodles are not
genuinely instant since it takes an effort to make the soup yourself, usually in a form of
simple hot water, and cook the noodles6. Therefore, it will be in great interest that a
vending machine offers simultaneous ingredients to select to create an actual noodle
dish according to the customer’s liking, specifically, a vending machine that offers
various kind of soup or stock, noodles, and toppings.
Thus, this business plan aims to employ the above-mentioned factors and ideas in
creating a state-of-the-art noodle vending machine. The capacity of the vending
machine to accept any forms of payment as well as selection of customized ingredients
for the said noodle dish will be realized for better convenience of people in all classes.

According to Department of Education, there are 60,429 public school institutions, where
16,439 of these is from Mindanao. Furthermore, 2,525 schools are from the Region 128.
Additionally, there are also 1,949 higher education institutions (HEI) nationwide. Assuming
that 30% of these are from Mindanao, the number of HEIs would be about 585 schools. Out of
these 585 schools, suppose that 200 HEIs would be hailing from SOCCSKSARGEN9. On top of
that, there are a total of about 1.08M business enterprises/establishments that are in operations.
212,000 of these are coming from Mindanao area and specifically, 46,000 are from the Region
1210.
With these statistics in mind, we assume that around 300 students eac
h school would buy a 90 php noodle meal, and about 200 employees for every business
enterprise would also buy 90 php noodle meal. Hence, this would give us a Total Available
Market (TAM) of 21.1B php, Serviceable Available Market (SAM) of 4.28B php, and Serviceable
Obtainable Market (SOM) of 901.6M php.
