The staff members in my office are very interesting. George is American. He's from New

Paris. Xiao Hong is Chinese. She's from Shanghai. Kato is Japanese. He is from Tokyo. Linda
and Ketty are Singaporean. They're from Singapore. My friend Thanh and I are Vietnamese.
We are from Hanoi. All staff members in my office are very friendly. We're from many
different countries and we're all friends.

UNIT 2
The Vietnamese students take part in different after - school activities. Students play sports
twice a week. They often play soccer, table tennis or badminton. Sometimes they go
swimming in the swimming pools. Some students like music, drama and movies. They often
practice musical instrument in the school music room. They join in the school theater group
and rehearse plays. Some are members of the stamp collectors’ club. They often get together
and talk about their stamps every 4 weeks. A few students stay at home and play video games
or computer games. Most of them enjoy their activities after school hours.

UNIT 3
THIS IS MY HOUSE!

Hello! My name is Peter and this is my house. My house is quiet big in the country. It has
got two floors – a ground floor and a first floor. It has also got an attic, a balcony, a terrace
and a basement. On the ground floor, there is a kitchen, a living room, a big dining room and
a bathroom. On the first floor, there are three bedrooms, one bathroom and a big corridor. My
bedroom is between my parents’ bedroom and the bathroom. My sister’s bedroom is in front
of mine. I love my bedroom, but I also like the attic. In the attic I keep some of my books and
my old toys. I like to spend my time there because it is very spacious and there is a big sofa
there where I sometimes take a nap.
There are many flowers in front of my house. Behind the house, there is a well. To the
right of the house, there is a rice-paddy to the left of the house, there are tall trees. It’s very
quiet here and I love my house very much. At the back of the house, there is a garage where
my parents park the family car, and a lovely garden with many green spaces, flowers, two
swings and a small swimming pool. I love my house because it is very comfortable and cozy.

I live in a house near the sea. It’s an old house, about 100 years old, and it’s very small.
There are two bedrooms upstairs but no bathroom. The bathroom is downstairs next to the
kitchen and there’s a living room where there’s a lovely old fireplace. There’s a garden in
front of the house. The garden goes down to the beach and in spring and summer there are
flowers everywhere. I live with my parents, and we have a lot of visitors. My city friends
often stay with me. I love my house for many reasons: the garden, the flowers in summer, the
fire in winter, but the best thing is the view from my bedroom window.

UNIT 5

MY DAILY ROUTINE

My name's Julia, and I am in my middle twenties. I live in London but I’m German. I live
with my boyfriend and we are very happy. I work in a bank and I love my job.

From Monday to Friday, my day starts very early. I always get up at 6:30 and I have a 20-
minute shower. Then, I get dressed and comb my hair. At 07:00 a.m I have breakfast, I usually
have coffee and cereals. After that, I put on my make up and go to work. At 10:00 a.m., I
sometimes have a snack and at 12:00 I usually have lunch at the office with my colleagues.
They are wonderful people who have a good sense of humor, and they are good friends too.
At 3:30 I have a snack again, I usually have some tea and biscuits.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I go to the gym after work. When I get home, I have
a shower again, I prepare dinner and I watch TV for a while. I like to go to bed as soon as
possible, around 9:30. Thursday is different because I don't go to the gym. I go out with my
boyfriend every Thursday. We sometimes go to the cinema or we go out for dinner and to
have a drink.

My boyfriend's name is Daniel, he is 31 years old, and he's an architect. He likes cooking
but he doesn't like cleaning the house so we share the housework. His family is from Spain.
He has two brothers and no sisters. We have been a couple for six years. And we have been
living together for two years. On Friday night I always go out with my friends, we sometimes
go to a bar and sometimes we meet at a friend’s house but I can't be home late because I have
to get up early on Saturday to clean the house. At the weekend, I always visit my relatives,
inlucding my parents my grandparents and cousins.
