2.0 HISTORY

2.1 HISTORY OF COMPUTER

In the mid-1960s, computers were large and occupied entire rooms, with even smaller systems,
known as minicomputers, being as large as a desk. The first computer that can be considered a
desktop was the Olivetti Programma 101, released in 1965, and roughly the size of a typewriter.
Over the following years, more desktop computers emerged, leading to the debut of home
computers like TRS-80, Apple II, and Commodore Personal Electronic Transactor in 1977.
Throughout the subsequent decades, desktop computers gained popularity, with the IBM
Personal Computer and Apple Macintosh dominating the market.

Early desktop computers used cathode ray tube (CRT) displays that sat on top of the computer,
which laid horizontally on the user's desk, known as all-in-one desktop computers. Modern
desktops now feature displays using light-emitting diode (LED), liquid crystal display (LCD),
or organic LED (OLED) technologies.

During the 1990s, all-in-one desktops gave way to computer towers, allowing users to store the
processor on the floor under their desks. This setup enabled larger monitors and better cable
management. These larger setups are known as full-sized desktops, and the tower connects to
the monitor and other components through cables. In more modern desktop computers, wireless
connections are also common. Additionally, compact desktop computers emerged, offering
similar capabilities in a smaller form factor.

In summary, desktop computers have evolved significantly from the massive mainframes and
minicomputers of the mid-1960s to the compact and wireless setups of today, providing users
with improved performance, space-saving designs, and enhanced display technologies.

5.1 Comparison between the oldest CPU and the Latest CPU

OLDEST CPU

It was meant to work with three additional microchips: the 4001 ROM, the 4002 RAM, and
the 4003 Shift Register. While the 4004 itself performed calculations, the additional
components were important to the processor's operation. The 4004 was designed for use in
calculators and related devices rather than computers. Its maximum clock speed was 740
kHz.

LATEST CPU

The current CPU version is the 13th Gen Intel® CoreTM processor family, which is lead by
the 13th Gen Intel® CoreTM i9-13900K. It was released on September 27, 2022, and is the
world's fastest desktop processor. If you are looking for a gaming CPU, you should choose
the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, which is presently the fastest gaming CPU in the world.

5.1.2 Comparison between oldest version of RAM and recent version of RAM

OLDEST VERSION OF RAM

Jay Forrester devised the Core Memory in 1952 at MIT. A core was a tiny ring of ferrite, a
ferromagnetic ceramic substance that could be magnetised in either of two ways. This distinct
property of the core allowed it to store a piece of information, either a 1 or a 0, depending on
the direction of the magnetic charge. By 1976, core memory was used in roughly 95% of all
computers.
LATEST VERSION OF RAM

DDR5 is the most latest RAM to hit the market, but it doesn't mean it's the finest. DDR4 is
significantly more popular and compatible with most systems, however DDR5 is more
expensive and may not function on many PCs or laptops. Finally, you must pick what best
meets your RAM requirements for the greatest RAM for your PC.

5.2 Software

5.2.1 Comparison between windows 11 and windows 365

Windows 11 introduces new system requirements, which have sparked debate. To be

officially supported, you must have a reasonably modern CPU that is based on the x64
architecture, as there is no 32-bit version of Windows 11. Furthermore, to install Windows
11, you'll need at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.Unlike Windows 11, Windows
365 is a subscription service rather than a product. It is not something that you install and run
on your computer. Instead, Windows 365 is a service that allows you to remotely create and
run PCs. It's a cross between a virtual computer and Microsoft Remote Desktop; Microsoft
refers to it as a Cloud PC.
