Day of the Eclipse in Indy


Don’t miss this once in a lifetime experience! On April 8, 2024, at 3:06 p.m. a total solar eclipse
will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indy is in the spot of totality for this eclipse as the sky
will go into temporary darkness. The next eclipse will take place in the year of 2044, but
Indianapolis will not be in the path of totality until the year of 2153. Indy will be providing over
20 viewing options. Start planning your day of the eclipse with these suggestions.

IMS: Race Meets Space


Have you heard of the Indy 500? Head to the very same racetrack at
the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to celebrate the total solar eclipse.
NASA will be broadcasting live from the facility and its experts will
be available to answer any questions about the scientific
phenomenon. General admission tickets are $20 per person and
include gate admission, infield parking and a pair of limited-edition
solar eclipse glasses. Camping packages are available for purchase
at Lot 2 in the facility. Enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity at

WRSP: A “Dark” Walk in the Park


A free day of fun! White River State Park is the perfect
spot for experiencing the eclipse in Indy. The vast grassy
area will be filled with activities. Over 20 food trucks will
gather along Old Washington Street. By the river, Frank’s
Paddlesport Livery will be on site renting out canoes and
kayaks. Yoga and tabata classes will be led by NIFS at 12
and 12:30 p.m. in Celebration Plaza Amphitheater. Lastly,
at 2:30 p.m. the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will
have a brass quintet performance. And most importantly,

Indiana State Fairgrounds
Toast to the eclipse at the fairgrounds! Live music will be
featured on stage, a bar will serve drinks, and eclipse-themed
food trucks will be available in parking areas. All guests will
receive complimentary eclipse glasses. Reserve campsites for
RV camping or full hook-up options. Day parking admits one
vehicle with up to 5 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
