After studying this chapter, the students should be able to:

its role in communicating the research's focus and objectives.
2. Identify the common types of qualitative research designs, such
as phenomenology, ethnography, grounded theory, historical,
case study, and action research.
3. Recognize the importance of choosing the appropriate
