PROJECT REPORT TEMPLATE

1. Project Name: Project Sana

2. Name of University: Shivaji College

3. Race Targeted(Optional): Race to rethink plastic

 Problem Statement (Specific to the project and not the race): There is a lack of awareness
regarding menstruation. In India, 23 million girls drop out of school every year when they
start menstruating.
 . Out of the 1.8 billion people that menstruate every month across the world, millions of girls,
women, transgender men and non-binary people are unable to manage their menstrual cycle
in a dignified and healthy way.
 Poor menstrual hygiene can lead to various infections such as urogenital infections, yeast infections,
fungal infections, urinary tract infections, and cervical cancer.
 Periods taboo impedes gender equality in several ways. The most obvious one is the use of
menstruation to discredit female emotions, ideas, and leadership abilities. Women are disregarded
on the grounds of being emotionally unstable and unable to make logical decisions while on their
periods
4.
Solution (Project Description/Overview of key activities performed): Project Sana aims at uplifting
and educating underprivileged women regarding menstruation along with providing them eco-friendly
and sustainable pads.
As a new vertical, a comic book for students and young menstruators is also launched. It provides in-
depth knowledge of menstrual hygiene, and gender inclusivity and try to bring awareness about self-
care. It hopes to break the taboos surrounding us and want women to speak up.
Another vertical of this project is helping women aid the PCOD and PCOS through podcasts, sessions
and an app created for the same.
