Part 1

Topic 1: Shoes

1. Would you pick a pair of shoes that are comfortable or stylish?

To my preference, ‘d consider a pair of shoes which makes more comfort rather than its
exterior style, since I usually wear on a daily basis and have to move a lot, from going to
my school to working at my company.

2. Do u consider shoes to be your priority while going shopping?

From my perspective, shoes are not the first priority while going shopping. Just only
purchase when actually need for usage. Besides, I spend most of time while going
shopping on food.

3. Are shoes expensive in your country?

Actually, considering shoes are pricey are not depends on some factors. The first is the
quality of their metarials. Besides, their stylish also makes these pairs of shoes more
exorbitant.

4. What kind of shoes would you wear on formal events?

To be honest, wearing any kind of shoes depends on the particular type of events. For
instance, when I have to present about the project of my group, I will choose a pair of
casual shoes. However, when I participate in a party, I tend to wear a pair of high heels
that makes me more confident in front of many people.

Topic 2: Candles
1. When do you often use candles?

Not often. When I was high knee to a grashopper, my family usually had to light up by
candles because of the unstablity of electricity in Vietnam at that time. However, until
now, hardly use anymore.

2. Do you think candles are dangerous to use?

Depends on each circumstance. As I mentioned, used to light up. Besides, there are
various accidents in are caused by fire from using candles carelously.

3. Do you think that candles are important for a birthday cake?

Candles present for new ages. Light up by candles on birthdays may become a practice
that bakery shops usually add when they sell.

4. Would you prefer using candles or flashlights when the lights go out?

I’m fond of lighting up by candles rather than flashlights because of their cozy
atmostphere. Besides, it’s so comfortable for my eyes when I see the lighted candles.

Topic 4. Sky

1. Do u often look at the sky?


 On a daily basis both when at home and in HN. Whenever looking at, feel so
peaceful and has a comfortable feeling in my emotion, so I often spend a little time
in the afternoon going to parks and looking at the sky to enjoy the most joyous
experience in a day.
2. Do u like to watch stars?
 Honestly, interested in watching stars, but don’t have deep understanding about
stars, still like sky more as I mentioned before.
3. Do you prefer to look at the sky during the day or night?
 Actually no. .
4. Where is the best view of the sky where you live?
 Currently living in HN, surrounded by skycrapers, hard to look the sky ideally as
in my hometown, still look when going out. In order to enjoy in the perfect way, it
is interesting to see from the top floor of a skycraper, like Lotte in HN
5. Is star – gazing popular in your country?
 As I observe in my daily life, people tend to gather in crowded places like the Old
Quarter or Tay Lake rather than star – gazing together because of its atmosphere.
However, it is so funny when changing to this activity sometimes.

Topic 5. Cards and invitation

1. Do u often send cards?


 Actually no because of the rapid development of technology, along with the
convinience, I tend to send emails or online messages rather than cards.
2. On what occasions do u send cards?
 For my perspective, if it is a formal and important event such as invitaion, I may
prioritize using cards instead of email to perform my respectation to receivers.
3. Do u prefer to receive cards or emails?
 Actually when I need. I often don’t remember vividly my arrangement in my
room, so I may tend to buy or get any items if I really need.
4. Is sending cards common in your country?
 In bussiness, sending cards to each other like customers or partners is so common.
Beside giving contact information, this action also presents the profession and the
status in society.

Topic 6. Boats

1. Have you ever take a ride on a boat?


 Some times, as vividly remember, when going to Ha Long Bay, or Cat Ba island,
have to use boats to move and go sightseeing.
2. Do u like traveling by boat?
 Not really, seasick – therefore, usually wanna vomit when moving by boats.
3. Will traveling by boats become more popular in the future?
 More well – known down the road. Sea adventure because of misteries of oceans –
draw visitors’s attention
4. Are cruise ships popular in your country?
 Cruise ships – luxurious – more suitable for the rich that can afford for its price –
so not really common in VN.

Topic 7. Dictionaries

1. Have u ever used a dictionary?


 Of course yes. Use for looking up the meaning of new words not only in English
but also in my mother tonge.
2. Do u prefer paper or electronic dictionaries?
 Big fan of electronic one – I’m a techie and using online dictionaries helps – save
time and convinient
3. Are dictionaries used a lot in your language classes?
 Of course. Students often use Cambridge, Oxford or Londman online dictionaries
because of their fast pace in looking for.
4. Do u think dictionaries are useful
 Convinient in finding new words to broaden the horizon. Also include examples in
practical for users.

Topic 8: Noise

1. Do you mind noises?


 Depend on each situation. When I’m concentrating my work, need quiet space to
avoid being interrupted by anything
2. What types of noise do you come across in your daily life?
 Speak loudly of neighborhoods, sometimes makes me annoyed since it’s too loud
3. Are there any sounds that you like?
 Really into the sound of birds when singing in the early morning. This makes me
more energetic and recharge my energy to start a new day

 Thunderous noise when driving on the road in Hanoi. Different genres of sound
like means of transportation or speaking

Topic 9. Convenient store

1. How often do you shop at convenience stores?


 Because of their open time during 24 hours that meet my demands, such as CK, so
– shop at these stores on a regular basis
2. Are convenient stores popular in your country?
 As I observe, more common in big cities like Hanoi, HCM City. It easily to
understand that the high level of population and inhabitants tend to purchase in
these stores rather than in kiosks.
3. What kind of items are often sold in your local convenience stores?
 There are various genres of stuff are sold in convenience stores, including: food,
toys, beaverage, daily objectives such as toothpaste, soap, and so on. That is the
reason why they can draw the attention of consumers to meet their demands

 Generally, stuffs in convinient stores are a bit more expensive as its convenience
provided. Take CK as an example. With a bottle of water of Lavie brand, people can
purchase in kiosks with 5.000d, and in CK, they have to pay 7.000d.

Part 2:

Describe a memorable childhood event.

You should say: What event it was?; What do you remember about it?; Why it was
memorable?

- When 8 years old, summer vacation, sunny, and hot, beach - ideal place for my

Part 3

1+2. What and why do children often remember from their childhood?

 Honestly, children – vividly remember about memorable experiences or significant


moments in their childhood such as interesting journeys, special celebrations and
toys given by their families members. Childhood is the time that children have
opportunities to discover new events + they can feel excited and a bit worried.
That is belief that emotion may be the factor that leaves lasting impression for
children.

3. Can a bad childhood affect a child’s behavior when they grow up?

-> actually, affect seriously. For instance, children were born and grew up in an unhappy
families that their parents had conflicts and even divorce, they tended to uncontrol their
behaviors, form the violence in their daily lives and have mental health problems.

4. How can parents create a memorable childhood for a child?

-> parents can create by supporting and taking advantage of opportunities and conditions
to nuture for their children. parents can spend their time on engaging in outdoor activities
such as play sports or go camping together. These activities not only establish better
connection but also leave lasting impressions for children.
5. Can children be negatively affected by their classmates?

-> children, especially when they are too young, easily to imitate others’ activities since
children do not develop full ability to recognize any activities are good or not. For
instance, children when studying at kindergartens easily rob their classmates’ toys for
their own or bully inspite of parents’ advice. If these circumstances last for a long time,
they will have serious influence on children’s health and cognition.

6. What kind of online materials are harmful to a child’s mindset?

-> There’re so many kinds of online materials children access on a basis that are negative
and harmful to their mindset, including violence, inpropriate content for their ages, to
name just a few. As a result, children easily imitate others’ behaviors, so their parents
should limit and choose suitable lessons for their children.

Topic 2: Historical attraction

Part 2.

Discuss a historical place you don’t like to visit.

 Cue card:
- Don’t fancy visiting

Part 3

1. Why aren’t historical atractions popular with young people nowadays?


 Due to various reasons. Teenagers may find no interest to engage in historical
experiences comparing to modern entertaining activities. Besides, historical
destinations are commercialised with some improperly activities like selling toys
that has negative influence on the peaceful atmosphere.
2. Is it expensive to keep historical attraction in your country?
 Depends on each kind of the quality of materials used to maintain. Besides,
destinations over many years are deteriorated at different levels, so cost is not the
same
3. Why are historical attractions important to a country?
 many reasons. Represent the historical events of that country about invaders,
victories, and so on. -> allow visitors to learn about traditions and customs.
Furthermore, boost the economy to develop (draw the attention of foreigners)
4. Should young people be encouraged to visit historical places?
 Represent for traditions and history. Experiencing historical destinations allow to
broaden the horizon, appreciation for the origin, have a clearer insight into the
nation’s ancient history.
5. How can historical attractions be more popular?
 through different strategies. Workers -> enhance the visibility by effective
marketing campaignes or interactive activities on their fanpage. Take Hoa Lo
prison as a clear example. The conmmunication team – so well – known, one of
the character rewarded the prize by WeChoice 2023. They are the young, with
their love and pride, create interesting and creative posts about Hoa Lo prison, to
make it not only a historical place but also a tourist attraction for many visitors.
6. How can the government preserve historical attractions?
 Fine heavily activities destroying and causing harmful to historical constructions.
Restructing on a daily basis. Organizing campainges about conserving and
learning histories for students and visitors.

Topic 3. Influencing

Part 2. Talk about a person who has influenced you.

You should say:

How do you know him/her?

How did she/he influence you?

 When comes to this topic, talk about a sister that I inadvertently had a chance to
make friend through a project about self – development. Her name – Ngoc. She –
currently works in the HR department in an educational company in HN. She went
abroad about phychology in Korea, so this was why – she was invited to
participate in this campaigne with a role of a mentor.
She – a forthright person. She – already to lend me an ear about stories in my daily
life to give advice to my problems no matter they’re good or bad.
Despite the scarcity of time – still research some renowned titles that is suitable
for me. Besides, she said to me until now “Helping you doesn’t get any value to
me – but I see myself before reflected in yourself”. This sentence has left a lasting
impression to me until now and thanks to her effort, I have lots of new experience
in my life. That’s the reason why I feel so respectful and admire her.

Part 3.

1. How can adults influence young children to be good citizens?


 Adults – especially parents, a clear example for children’s behaviours. If a child is
adopted in an unhappy environment that usually has family conflicts, his
pshychology will be affected seriously – may lead to create illegal activities
because of his reacklessness. Therefore, adults should teach their children about
kindness, responsibility, to name just a few to help them become good citizens.
2. How can social media influencers bring values to society?
 Promote positive messages, valuable lessons, good habits, to name just a few.
Using their influence and fame to raise awareness about issues such as
entertainment, reading books, self – development, and so on.
3. How do u think the rise of influencers has changed the traditional advertising
industry?
 In the past: conventional advertises - performed through short videos, no reviews
and experiences for watchers, so customers – hesitant about purchasing.
Current: with rave reviews from reviewers and influencers, the number of products
and services consumed rises remarkably because of their promotion and influence.

4. Do u believe influencers should be more responsible for the products or
services they promote? Why or why not?
 Should – as their followers may believe influencers’ endorse and purchase. If the
quality and authenticity of this product is not safe, it will have negative influence
on consumers’ well – being and influencers’ fame.
5. In what ways can influencers positively contribute to society, beyond
promoting products?
 Using their influence to raise awareness about their experience of using products
through social platforms. Besides, they can share about social issues, lifestyle or
moral contents to enhance people’s knowledge.
6. How has the concept of fame and celebrity changed with the emergence of
social media influencers?
 In the past, conventional reputation may rely on the devotion to entertainment,
society, sports, to name just a few.
Nowadays, people with diverse background can become influencers with their
post about any contents related to career path, study and so on through different
social platforms.

TOPIC 4. Reading habits

Part 2. Describe a book that had a significant impact on you

You should say:

- How do u know this book?
- How did this book influence you?
 When comes to this topic, one of my all – time favourite book that has significant
impact – “Toi thay hoa vang tren co xanh” – written by Nguyen Nhat Anh – a well
– known Vietnamese writer – many renowned titles.
The first time read this book – grade 7 – . It is set in a poor countryside area in VN
and revolves about children’s childhood, along with meaningful messages about
brotherhood, the love among villagers and thoughts of the teenagers. The story 3
main characters called “Thieu, Tuong, and Man”, and 2 supporting roles are Đàn
uncle and sister Vinh.
.With soft and familiar details for readers, this book as a new door to me that
stimulated my inspiration for literature and art. From a child who don’t like art, I
spent time – practicing drawing and writing poems.Thanks to this book – found a
good habit in free time

Part 3.

1. How have people’s reading habits changed with the advent of digital
technology?
 In the past: through magazines, newspapers
Current: online articals: e – book, podcast, audiobook -> convinient, popular in
young generations
2. How do reading habits vary among different age groups?
 The old: prefer to read conventional printed books like magazines, newspapers
Younger generations: tend to read through digital devices – smartphone, tablet.
Drawn the attention by short news, summaries, to name just a few
3. How can parents encourage their children to develop a love for reading?
 Visit bookstore or libraries, choose appropriate story in books and tell them again
to make children more interested. Arrange different genres of books in their room,
read and then discuss together
4. Do you think the popularity of e – books will eventually replace traditional
printed books? Why or why not?
 May be no. as I mentioned before, many people prefer the experience of reading
printed books, the aesthetic smell of papers. Besides, staring on screen in a long
time causes some eye diseases like short – sighted.
5. Can challenging experiences in education lead to better learning outcomes for
students?
 Definitely. When – are exposed to difficulties, develop soft skills such as critical
thinking, problem – solving skill, contribute to the maturity

in the workplace?
 Discuss problems together, open communication, provide useful resources, mental
health support. Should understand about individual needs – one of the factors
contributing the support.

 All – time favourite is watching movies. picked up this when I was in 11 grade –
has become a source of relaxation and learning in my life.
Actually, really interested in the feeling of pick up movie sessions wanna watch. In
free time at weekend, often binge – watch different genres of films such as
sciention – fiction movie, action movie, to name just a few. The reason why - So
interesting and make – unwinding after stress time.
One more aspect that find movies are so useful – learning English. Watch
american movies for any topics fond of, focus on actors’s ancient, slangs and
words, improve listening and speaking abilities. For masterpieces of other
countries, people may get deeper insights into their cultures to broaden the
horizon.

1. Why do you think people have hobbies?
 Crucial for people’s well – being. Refresh their minds, stress relief, unwind after
working and studying . If people don’t have any own favorites, their lives –
become terrible and boring, even some diseases such as depression

 In the past: affected by conventional practices
Today: rapid development of technology – contribute to diversities – engage in

 Younger tend to engage in outdoor activities such as sport, while older generations
– participate in reading newspapers, gardening, and so on.

 Rapid development of technology, changing of society – conventional hobbies are
replaced gradually by modern habits. Should preserve and enhance the popularity
of these hobbies, especially among the young generation.

 Content creation on social platforms such as Youtube, Tiktok, facebook, instagram,
some careers such as remote freelancers. Thanks to technological enhancement,
society becomes diverse and people’s lifestyles – better.

Part 2

Describe a famous person you would like to meet

You should say:

 When comes to this topic, Taylor Swift – all – time favourite figure that I’d like to
meet. Talented singer and accomplished American composer around the world
with valuable prizes like Grammy and AMA. Some masterpiece of music like
Shake It Off, Cruel Summer, to name just a few. In addition to her music success,
she – well – known for the academic performance when achieving Doctor degree
of Art in New York University.
Vividly remember, had a go at enjoying her songs when 15 years old and the first
album I heard was 1989. Be appealed by their rhythm and lyrics, along with their
messages conveyed to listeners. The reason why look up to her a lot.

Part 3.
1. Why do u think people are so interested in celeb?
 Celeb represent for ideals, ideology to give inspiration to their fans in the daily
lives. Form of entertainment.
2. How has the concept of celebrity changed over the years?
 Celeb in various fields such as sports, music, art, movie, and so on. Thanks to
advancement of technology, social platforms, people have chances to be exposed
to their idols closely
3. Are there any negative aspects to celeb culture?
 There are some drawbacks of celeb culture. For instance, some Chinese actors was
caught by having sex with young kids, thereby when mentioning his name, people
might vividly remember about his guilt. This action not only affected seriously his
career path but it also brought consequences to fans’ pshychology.
4. Do you think it’s healthy for people to be obsessed with celebrities?
 Both advantages and downsides. Celebs can give inspiration for followers and
convey positive messages in daily lives. Besides,

 Take advantage of their influence to convey messages, share their lessons in daily
lives. For instance, in order to advertise for products, PREP which is a educational
company – through Quynh Tit – a talented KOL with 7.5 IELTS, to draw the
attention, including her fans.

 Take advantage of their fame – to raise awareness about urgent issues
incommunity – contribute to positive change. Draw attention and encourage their
fans to engaged in.

TOPIC 9. Important decision

Part 2. Discuss an important decision you made in your life

- The picture that I vividly remembered most was about 4 people including me,
parents and my older sister. First birthday party – 7 years old.
- Party – was held in evening, Because the first time – so excited about. Mom
decorated my room to be more appealing to take photos with a lot of colorful
bubbles. Everybody had shiny smiles on their faces. Before me a big birthday
cake that mom prepared in the afternoon. Although too many years went by,
that cake still has been clear in my mind until now
- Once in my next birthdays, I often find this picture and imagine that event.

When it comes to this topic, I’m fond of visiting a park named “Ho Dieu Hoa” after the
ministry of policeman. The first time – known this place – when hang out with friends

On Pham Van Dong street among the hustle and bustle city, it’s about 3 km from my
room. From my observation, it is a considerable area with a large lake in the bottom with
yellow fish, flowers, along with pretty dogs

Comfortable atmosphere and space – go on a daily basis for picnic, or do exercises. some
teenagers also take photos together since its greeny view with a lot of trees and grass. At
night, it’s covered by colorful lightning and music

Teacher – at university – She is American. Teach one subject in my curriculums named


Economics.

She – so young. She is so gorgeous with her yellow blond hair and bright skin. Also
humourous. Told us – had lived in Vn for 5 years. The first time went to VN, so scare and
worried because of culture and language. Only spoke simple word and sentence and no
friends here.

She met her neighbor by accident, taught Vnese for her. They talked to their daily life
each evening after working by Vnese. Day by day, her ability improved better and even
she could sing Vnese song fluently. She said- studying Vnese is not as difficult as many
people talked to me.
As recall, Last semester in grade 12. It was the time – had to focus totally on preparing to
the most crucial test in my life. Day by day, just had meals, slept, and studied. It was so
terrible. Often burnt the midnight oil to study, sometimes feel exhausted and peer
pressure. Even cried each morning before going to school. Searched information about
favorite aspects, universities, their fees, to name.. . In some days wanted to give up, lost
about 5kg as a zombie on movies. At the moment when I’m a student at my university, I
feel so scared when remembering that time, however, a memorable time in my life.
