Scope of use
The MagDoor is a roller door designed to seal off a full-size wall fan when not in use,
to prevent backdraft and cold air ingress. Alternatively, it may be used as an air intake,
sealing off a vent opening in a wall, for instance a tunnel air inlet in a tunnel ventilated
building. Typical applications are poultry or pig production facilities or industrial buildings
where high air exchange rates are required.
Correctly installed and operated, the door can withstand pressures of 150 Pa (0.6”WC)
The running time for the door to fully open or fully close is about 20 seconds, depending
on version and supply frequency.
The MagDoor is not intended for frequent short-cycle operation such as cycle minimum
ventilation operation in combination with on/off fan control. The size of the door and
the air exchange capacity of a fan of similar size to the door would leave to uncontrolled
air exchange, and the current inrush to the fan motor at short duty cycles would put a
load not just on the fan motor and the tubular motor but on the entire installation.
Rather, we recommend minimum ventilation be run using variable speed fans where
the MagDoor is either fully open or fully closed, with the fan running variable speed
when the door is open, to allow for precision air exchange and high efficiency.
The tubular door motor is a duty class 2:4min. The motor should be left de-energized to
cool for at least 4 minutes between operations. Cooling is best obtained with the Mag-
Door in the closed position, as this leaves the octagonal aluminium drive tube exposed,
thereby ensuring efficient heat dissipation.
Multiple short-cycle operations may cause the tubular motor’s internal overheat protec-
tion to shut off, especially if the door is left open after such multiple short-cycle operati-
ons, as this leaves the octagonal aluminium drive tube unexposed (wrapped in the PVC
segments) and hinders efficient heat dissipation.
After the motor has cooled its internal overheat protection will allow the motor to re-
sume operation but care should be taken to ensure sensible duty cycles in order to make
the motor stay well below the maximum allowed internal temperature at all times.

19. Motor wiring
19.1
The motor operates between two limit switches that are adjusted via the red and the white screws positio-
ned in the cable end of the motor.
When 230VAC is applied between the white wire (N) and the black wire (PHASE) the red limit switch is acti-
ve, and the position of the red limit switch can be adjusted.
DO NOT APPLY PHASE TO THE BLACK AND THE RED WIRE AT THE SAME TIME!!

19.2
The white screw is related to the red wire.

ve, and the position of the white limit switch can be adjusted.
DO NOT APPLY PHASE TO THE BLACK AND THE RED WIRE AT THE SAME TIME!!

19. Motor wiring
19.3
The tubular motor releases a capacitive charge if a sudden change of rotational direction
occurs. To counteract that effect, use relay as shown below.
Operation cycle: Door must be closed at least 60s/cycle.
L1 N PE
Relay is not part of the MagDoor delivery and should be sourced locally.
NOTE: Contactor must be 16 A at minimum. Acti 9 iCT from Schneider or similar product.
Important:
Only one roller motor per relay. NEVER two motors on one relay!
