QUIZ 1

What are the key objectives of HRM, and how do they contribute to organizational

success? Provide examples to illustrate your points.

Answer:

The first key objective of HRM is talent management. Talent is the key success factor for

increasing and sustaining organizational performance. Talent can also consist of an individual’s

capabilities, experience, knowledge, intelligence, and qualifications, as well as their ability to

learn and grow. For instance, hiring talented employees. The organizational can accomplish

their goals efficiently and effectively with outstanding performance by hiring talented people

who can perform their duties with professionalism, because they are highly motivated to do

their task. This will result in an increase in productivity and profitability within the

organization. A successful business strategy should acknowledge and acquire talent for

improving their employees by identifying the recruitment talent pool, setting a competitive

compensation plan, training and developing talent, and assessing employee performance within

the organization to boost its competitive advantage and sustainability. In the USA and Western

Europe, talent management is perceived as mature. This country has realized the pivotal role

of their human capital in the prosperity and evolution of their organizations as well as nations.

These countries are characterized by the advancement of their civilizations, economies,

technological infrastructure, and openness to changes, as well as their implementation of new

techniques and practices. This is the talent management that the organization should obtain for

organizational success.
Secondly, employee development is one of the most important functions of Human Resource

Management and key objective of HRM. It means to develop the abilities of an individual

employee and the organization as a whole. As when employees were more developed, they

would be more satisfied with the job and more committed to it, and their performance appraisal

would increase. When employee performance increases, the organization will be more

effective. So, the company should contribute towards the development activities, when the

employees work hard and utilize their full skills and efforts. The organization will achieve its

goals and mission. For example, a coaching activity for an employee’s development. Coaching

involves treating employees as personal partners in achieving both personal and organizational

goals. It can also solve employees’ personal problems, when the problems are resolved, it will

increase organizational performance as employees will be able to achieve organizational

success. Then, the company should consider offering training programmes for their staff to

enhance their knowledge, such as training for sales staff to get a better understanding of the

products they will sell to customer. This particular situation will increase business profit and

improve skills for employees.

Last but not least, compensation and benefits by designing fair and competitive compensation

packages to attract and retain top talent. Nowadays, it is crucial as employers to take care of

the welfare of their employees as a reward for their hard work in achieving organizational

goals. Hence, the welfare for employee cannot be ignored. Many companies provide their

employees benefits such as promotions, allowances, bonuses and incentives based on the

employee’s performance. For instance, the manager should give a bonus to the salesperson who

is successful in achieving the amount of the monthly sale. If the company fails to give

employees a compensation and benefits, as a result, performance will decrease and lead to

dissatisfaction and productivity. They will not work hard, and this will affect success of the
organization so compensation and benefits play a significant role in increasing employee’s

productivity and motivation through greater accountability.

These objectives contribute to organizational success by providing talent management,

employee development, compensation, and benefits to achieve organizational goals. Talent

management will be successful if the leader is capable of helping the team strive towards goals.

While employee development enhances employees’ performance by coaching for

organizational effectiveness, and a proper management should consider giving their employees

compensation and benefits as a reward for their hard work, achieving organizational profit, and

increasing employees’ productivity.
