AP: Land acquisition issues may delay Chintalapudi project

Despite deployment of additional machines and men to commission the project ahead of schedule, the
project is being delayed in the resolution of pending court cases related to land acquisition and forest
clearances by the state administration may cause delays.

Causes for the Delay

1. About 698 acres against the total requirement of 11,427 acres are yet to be acquired by revenue
authorities for the construction of distributaries in both districts.

2. Project works were hit at several patches with many farmers refusing to part with their land and
filing writ petitions in the high court.

3. Acquisition of forest land has become more complex with the revenue authorities yet to spare
alternative land for afforestation.

4. About 69 acres of forest land under phase II main canal work was stalled due to delay in allotment of
alternative land for the forest department.

5. Not even a single acre was acquired against the total requirement of 6, 708 acres for the Jalleru
reservoir.
