WORKPLACE VIOLENCE CASE STUDY

1. Problem Definition: -
Violence at the workplace puts the employee's lives at risk through injury or death by some
deranged or violent people, which is effects on the lives of them entire families. This is because of
companies' lack awareness of violence problem and how to predict it, which effect on them
employee's life.

2. Justification of the Problem: -

The main issue for such cases is the lack of monitoring by the managers or leaders for the
employee’s general behaviour which is may be predict and highlighted through the daily problems
and arguments which may be happened.

Also, because lack of the plant security Myles Meyers was able to go inside the plant and carrying his
gun under his coat which is can be predict if there was a security on the plant gate. and however,
after heard the 1st shot gun there was no quick action by the security.

3. List of Alternatives: -

① Predict of Myles Meyers condition who has tended to violence as example which is may be
happen through managers and supervisors training how to predict such violence characters.

② Good security and alarming system which is lead to find out the problem before happen or at
least once the problem happen can be absorb and controlled before any complication.

③ Improving employees’ awareness to immediate report when they have any suspicious about
employee’s behaviour which helping to predict the problems before happened.

4. Evaluate Alternatives: -

① Arranging a training especially for the managers and supervisors in order to able to predict the
persons behaviour’s and whom has a tend to violence which is may be make a warning to the
responsible guys about the employees whom represent some danger and take the necessary actions
towards. On the other hand, arrange some ethics tests during the first interviews with the new
candidates’ employees and to be a basic condition for them acceptance and ensure that new
employees have a history of non-violence.

② Good security and alarming system through a specialized company in such field and arrange a
regular audit for them performance which is will help to decrease such violence in the work place in
addition to arranging a specialized test for security personnel to make sure that they will be able to
cover and control the hard situations.

③ Arranging a training for the employees and encourage an open communication to improve them
awareness about how to predict the violence guys and the importance of the immediate report once
they feel any danger from someone, then start an immediate investigation and find immediate
corrective actions. On the other hand, management should take a sharp action towards any kind
violence.
