AB Production)
Proposed Machine Name: Design, Fabrication and Performance
Evaluation of Fertilizer Spreader for Granular
Fertilizer
Brief Background of the Study: Crops such as corn and sugarcane are industrial

crops that require nutrients from fertilizer. The

usage of fertilizers to increase sugarcane crop

output is self-evident. Fertilizers supply plants

with the necessary chemical ingredients for

growth, specifically nitrogen, phosphorus, and

potassium. Solid chemical fertilizers are a

significant source of plant nutrition since they

give the plant the important nutrients required

for growth over the periods of its growing life

while also working to enhance soil qualities (soil

structure and acidity). Fertilizer application is

very important in poor soil to save key elements

for improving crop production and quantity. On

the other hand, mechanization is considered as a

critical main means of accelerating agricultural

production. Given the vast volume of these crops

and the time required to apply fertilizer.

Statement of the Problem: There is an urgent need to mechanize

agricultural operations by utilizing machines

to perform basic agricultural techniques such

as irrigation, weeding, and fertilizing boost

yield while decreasing labor waste. Aside

from that, crops such as corn and sugarcane

cover a huge region, making hand fertilizer

distribution time-consuming. Furthermore, the

weight of the fertilizer was another element

that contributed to the farmer's difficulty in

spreading the fertilizer throughout the area.

Application of the Machine

The application of this machine was to lessen the

load and time cause by the spreading of fertilizer

at the farm, this innovation also is for those

furrow crops. For the farmer, they can use this to

spread fertilizer in a convenient way and to

reduce the time on spreading the fertilizer on the

farm. In addition, the community may use this

also and lessen the harm of holding the fertilizer

by their hands. The fertilizer spreader ensures

the proper and balanced distribution of

fertilizers. With the Fertilizer Spreader, which

can sprinkle the fertilizer on the soil adequately

and accurately, and can distribute the fertilizer

with using your hand and efficiently without

using unnecessary fertilizers

Concept of the Design

The goal of this innovation is to produce a

simple and inexpensive fertilizer spreader in the

shape of a 'walk-behind' device that farmers can

easily and rapidly push for spreading solid

fertilizers or granular fertilizers. When the

fertilizer spreader is pushed, motion is

transferred from the back axle wheels to a

sprocket (placed on the rear axle) and chain

mechanism, which in turn rotates a second

sprocket attached to a shaft with a screw

conveyor at both ends. This rotation of the screw

conveyor will discharge the fertilizer that is

delivered by a hopper that serves as a storage

tank.
