INTRODUCTION

Education is for everyone. Education needs to be valued in a way that helps every

person, man, woman, old or young, to gain knowledge of themselves and to develop their

potential as human beings (Nutbrown, Clough, and Selbie, 2008). . Gat Jose P. Rizal highly

valued education as the key to social change and the achievement of the people's freedom (Iya,

2021).

According to Mahaguay’s (2018) article, it is clear to Quito that there is no one

education system that can be suitable for all situations and countries. It turns out that every

country should study the system that suits their needs. It is not possible to simulate or implement

a successful system in one country because each country has its own history and problems that

must be considered. The new normal of education can be seen in how it has changed the level of

learning of students and the teaching of faculty. According to Leonor Briones, education will

continue, whether there is COVID-19 or not. (Tugano, 2020)

BODY

Implementation of Online Distance Learning

Based on Pragholapati (2020), in his study A Covid-19 Impact on Students that an

effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19, WHO recommends stopping activities that have the

potential to cause mass crowds. Learning must be carried out with scenarios that are able to

minimize physical contact between students and other students, or between students and

lecturers. One alternative form of learning that can be carried out during the Covid-19

emergency is online learning.

According to Morgan (2020), in response to the spread of COVID-19, a new class of

coronavirus, many schools in the U.S. implemented remote learning. They believe that this

method of education will help in the continuation of schooling. Schools that implement online

distance learning can be improved if they follow the guidelines of organizations such as the

International Society for Technology in Education.

Online Distance Learning in the Midst of Pandemic

According to Stacey (2004) not only in the traditional classroom there is learning but

also in modern technologies such as the internet, students are helped to learn wherever they are.
The online class provides an advantage compared to the traditional class held in the

classroom. Removing barriers or barriers to learning such as time and space, in online learning

the student learns more because there is no observed time that gives time to the student (Beam

1998)

This is supported by Vercide's article (2022) about how effective the modern way of

student learning or so-called "E-learning". He also mentioned in his article the advantages. First

of the advantages is the embrace of modern technology, it is said that online education will be

the way for young people to learn the use of modern technology. They will have time to explore

some of the new ways of learning. In this same step, most will be able to embrace the modern

way towards the development and learning of the country's youth. Second is the fast process and

system.

Teachers' Teaching Strategies

Teachers are considered light in the classroom and with so many responsibilities

ranging from the simplest to the most complex. It requires different teaching styles or methods to

capture the interests of the students. Above all, the teacher should have adequate knowledge of

curriculum goals and standards, teaching skills, interests, values and goals (Barberos, Gozalo and

Padayogdog, 2018).

The teaching style helps the students to engage in discussion to increase their level of

intelligence in a way that encourages the student to participate in various activities in the subject

matter while letting the student learn in their their own perception (Munir and Rehman, 2016).
Teaching strategies include all the techniques a teacher can take to actively engage

students in the learning process (Meador, 2022). Being happy in service as a teacher and being

happy in class will result in greater teaching excellence (Cabigao, 2021).

Benefits of Online Learning

Similar to attending a physical campus and learning in person, there are advantages and

disadvantages of attending a virtual classroom and learning online. Among the many benefits of

online learning, you’ll find that virtual education allows you to enjoy a more flexible schedule,

can reduce the cost of your degree, and can allow you to more easily develop your career

alongside furthering your education.

While there are many pros to online learning, there are cons to consider. Staying on task

and being self-motivated can be challenging in its own way; which is part of the reason why

online learning isn’t right for everyone. By understanding more about the advantages and

disadvantages of online learning, you can get a better idea of whether it might be suitable for you

and your educational and career goals. (Burkham, 1999).

Without going outside, students can learn each and every subject through online

classes, even sitting at home. Online classes save the time and money of travelling. Online

classes offer the flexible schedule that permits students to study at their own convenience.

Students can gain knowledge only by watching the videos of any subjects at any time. And,
through online classes, each and every student can gain an education. When the students are

not able to go outside due to some serious reasons, then they can easily study from the online

classes. In such kind of cases, online classes help to eliminate the barriers and borders, and

students can easily gain knowledge, even sitting at home. Online classes offer high-quality

education to students at their own place. Online learning is a great solution for students to

study effectively

Conclusion

The outbreak of COVID-19 has forced innovation across all the sectors and education is

no exception to this. Breaking the classroom barriers schools have launched live / virtual

classroom; like most cases there has been some mixed response from students and parents in this
regard. It has sparked a debate among many on how the teaching methods will evolve and

change for good in the future. Some feel online live teaching environment is better than the

traditional classroom environment while others feel vice-versa. With the sudden alteration from

classroom to online learning some are speculating if the adoption of online learning will continue

to persist post-pandemic. (Vibhuti, 2020).

Online classes mainly take place through the internet. As such, online classes lack the regular

student teacher interaction that is common with traditional learning.(Donovan, 2006). Online

Class benefits students and teachers to not be involved in activities that have the potential to

cause mass crowds. This is important for now because of this pandemic, as what Progholapati

(2020) studied, that learning must be continued with scenarios that would lessen physical contact

with each other, like, students and other students, or between students and lecturers. And, the

only alternative form of learning that can make this possible during the Covid-19 emergency is

the new method, online learning.
