2. To develop imagination power and listening skill of the students.
3. To open the mind of children and help them relate to their environment make them more aware.
4. To develop in them an understanding of basic concepts, principles and theories relating to geographical phenomena.
5. To provide real information about natural beauty.

6. To enable the pupils to acquire a knowledge of natural resource / solar system.

Specific Objectives :
1. To enable the students to acquire knowledge about earth and its motion.
2. To enable the students to know rotation of the Earth.
3. To enable the students to discuss about different seasons of earth.

Teaching Aids :
Roll up board, pictures or charts related to motion, seasons of Earth.

Previous Knowledge :
Students have some basic knowledge about Earth rotation and earth’s seasons.

night? Problematic question.

Statement of aim :
Students, Today we will study about
“Motion of the Earth”.

Rotation Students will be Developmentary Question :

able to describe 1.When does star appear in the sky? At night.
about rotation of 2.How does night occurs on the Earth? Due to its rotation.
Earth.
Teacher’s Statement :
Students, The movement of the earth
on its axis, is called Rotation. This
rotation of the earth completes in Students are listening carefully.

rotation day and night occurs on the
earth.

Teacher’s Statement :
The movement of the earth around the
sun in a fixed path or orbit is called
Revolution. It takes 365 and ¼ days (one
year) to revolve around the sun. Students are listening carefully.
We consider a year as consisting of
365 days only. Remaining 6 hours (1/4
days) saved every year are added to
make one days (24 hours) over a span of
four years. Such a year with 366 days is
called a Leap year.

Orbital plane Students will be Developmentary questions :-

able to describe 1.Give the another name for path of
the orbital plane. revolution of the earth. Orbit.
2.What is the shape of earth’s orbit? Problematic question.

Teacher’s Statement :
The plane formed by the orbit is known
as the Orbital plane. This orbital plane of
the earth is elliptical in shape. Students are listening carefully.
The axis of the earth which is an
imaginary live, makes an angle of 66 and
half degree with its orbital plane.

Seasons of the Students will be Developmentary questions :-
