Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

Science 8- Faith

Content/Topic
Members of the Solar System
Learning Competencies/ Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:
1. recall the objects inhabited in the solar system,
2. give the characteristics of other celestial objects in the solar system, and
3. explain the occurrence of space debris.

 Science Journal

D. Teaching Strategy
 Discovery Learning- The teacher will let the learners discover the
concept celestial objects found in the solar system.
 Revolving circles- The teacher will let the learners discuss with the
other groups their own understanding on the concept of other celestial
objects through group discussion.
 Discussion Bingo -the teacher will let the learners sharpen their
understanding the different celestial objects found in the solar system.

E. Key concepts
- Asteroid; located between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter, known to be
minor planets.
- Meteors; also called shooting stars space debris that enters the Earth’s
atmosphere.
- Meteorite; meteors that enters the atmosphere and falls on the ground.
- Meteoroid; small space fragments that still travels on the space.
- Comets; cosmic snowballs that are made up of frozen gas, rocks and dusts.
F. Process skills:
- The students discuss the assigned space debris and let them brainstorm the
topic and share their understanding to other groups by revolving circles
activity.
- The students draw some space debris in their science journal.
G. Values Integrations
- In realization, the students explain the occurrence of space debris.

Assessment
The teacher raised on the board the rubrics
in their topic presentation in the revolving
circles activity.
Rubrics:
Content – 25 points
Organization of Inputs – 20 points
Cooperation – 5 points
Total: 50 points

Synthesis/Realization
The teacher asks students about what they
have learn for today’s lesson.

In realization the students explain the

occurrence of space debris in the ½
crosswise sheet of paper.

Enrichment Activity

- The students draw in their

science journal about what
they had learned in the
lesson on space debris.
