INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT REPORT (CUTR 382)


GUIDELINES

1. Introduction
This guideline takes you through the requirements of Industrial Attachment Report,
(CUTR 382). Aspects covered include: contribution, submission and structure of the
attachment report. You are reminded to adhere to the set requirements. Consult your
industrial supervisor(s) as you compile the attachment report.

2. Report contribution
Industrial Attachment Report, (CUTR 382) is a course on its own.

3. Report Submission
Attachment report should be:
 Submitted to the departmental secretary’s office on or before the set due date time
 Two spiral bound copies should be submitted.
 Also required is a soft copy of the report and this should be submitted to
gkwanisai@cut.ac.zw and gkwanisai@gmail.com .
 The hard copies will only be accepted if the soft copy has been received.
 The reports should be at least 5000 words, typed in Times New Roman, font size
12 and 1.5 line spacing.
 Requests for late submissions should be made in writing to the department well
before the due date.

 Five percent deduction of total marks for each full day or part thereof overdue
will be the penalty. Weekends and public holidays are considered days in
calculating late penalties.
 Reports submitted more than 10 days after the submission deadline will not be
accepted for marking

4. Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a serious academic offence and you will be penalized if found wanting.
Acceptable plagiarism threshold is 20 percent, beyond 20 percent it is an automatic fail.
Write your own report and express your points in your own words. Always reference
where necessary. Never be tempted to copy from your classmates and students from other
universities. The soft copies of the reports will be checked for plagiarism.

5. Report structure
Cover page of the report
University Name (Bold-font size 20) Department Name (Bold-18), Title (Bold/italics-
14), University Logo, Student name and ID (Bold-14), Purpose and Date of Submission
(Bold-12). Don’t forget the boarder. See appendix 1.

Title page of the report


Must list Student Name; Student I.D; Organization/Company (address/email/phone);
Period of Attachment; Industrial Supervisor (email/phone); Date of submission.
The report should be at least 5000 words.

(iii) Short summary or abstract
(iv) Table of contents

Chapter One – Background
1.1 Introduction
1.2 Location (map required) and brief history of the organization.
1.3 Vision and Mission statement of the establishment.
1.4 Organizational structure,
1.5 Outline the organization’s business and target market

Chapter Two- Organizational Departments


 Give an outline of the major departments of the organization you were exposed to
and evaluate each department’ role to the total organizational objectives as well as
challenges being encountered by each.
 Compare and contrast how activities in each department are done with what
literature says (give references). Provide recommendations where possible.

Chapter Three - SWOT analysis of the whole organisation


3.1 Carry out a SWOT analysis of organisation
3.2 Give a conclusion based on the SWOT analysis of the aspect
3.3 Propose recommendations based on the SWOT analysis

Chapter Four– Problem Identification


4.1 Identify a problem within the organisation
4.2 Do a review of literature related to the identified problem
4.3 Propose a plan of action to address the problem given the operating environment for
the organisation.

Chapter Five - Summary, Conclusions and Recommendations.


The student’s evaluation of the whole industrial exercise in relation to theoretical and
practical work covered at the university
6.1 Summary of the report
6.2 Challenges and problems faced by the student during the attachment period.
6.3 Recommendations

6.3.1 To the organization
6.3.2 To the university in terms of program structure and content
6.4 Conclusions are derived from the gaps between theory and practice.

Reference your work properly and use American Psychological Association (APA)
Referencing Style.
