As you can see on this graph, we are seeing a significant increase in the percentage of
teleworkers in several countries such as japan and Italy, but in other countries this increase
is not very important as we can see in brazil
Differences in teleworking arise among industries and occupations due to their differing
degrees of digitalisation. Industries associated with physical production, such as health and
social care, construction, transport and warehousing as well as accommodation and food
services had relatively low rates of teleworking during the pandemic. By contrast, industries
that were already highly digitalised including information and communication services,
professional, scientific and technical services as well as financial services achieved much
higher rates of teleworking – over 50% of employees, on average.

According to a survey conducted by Global Workplace Analytics and Owl Labs in 2020:

• 5.7 million employees (4.1% of the U.S. employee workforce) telecommuted half-time or
more before the pandemic

• 96 million employees (69% of U.S. employee workforce) worked remotely at the peak of the
pandemic

E-commerce has made a real leap in France in 2020. Until then, the share of online sales did
not weigh more than 10% of retail trade as a whole, and grew steadily, by around 1 point per
year. "The increase is almost 4 points, from 9.8% to 13.4%", observes Marc Lolivier, general
delegate of the Federation of e-commerce and distance selling. So, we could see three to
four years of growth in one year.
Indeed, the sale of products online has increased thanks to physical businesses which have
made extensive use of online sales since the start of the crisis.

As you can see on this graph, the traditional development time for a vaccine is about ten
years in order to validate the different phases of its development until its production and
marketing.
However, we can see that with most COVID-19 vaccines, this development time has fallen to
around 1 year thanks to the means implemented by the different countries and laboratories
to find a solution.
Also, synthetic messenger RNA technology which was used by some vaccines against covid
has been around for decades, but it took the emergency of a pandemic for it to be applied to
human vaccines for the first time.
This technology could boost applications for other diseases such as cancer.

Number of telehealth patient encounters reported by four telehealth providers that offer
services in all states and percentage change in telehealth encounters and emergency
department (ED) visits.

- Triaging and screening for COVID-19 symptoms

Telehealth can be used to screen for COVID-19 symptoms and assess patients for potential
exposure. It can be used to evaluate patients for COVID-19 symptoms, assess the severity of
their symptoms, and decide whether the patient needs to be seen for evaluation, admitted to
the hospital, or can be managed at home.

Making this decision remotely can avoid rushing the patient through the emergency room
upon arrival at the hospital, limiting the exposure of emergency department personnel and
other healthcare workers and preserving Personal Protection Equipment.

- Contact tracing
Telehealth can be used to interview patients with COVID-19 to determine who they were in
contact with during the time they were potentially infectious, and to follow-up with their
contacts to inform them of the need to quarantine

- Monitoring COVID-19 symptoms

Patients with mild or moderate COVID-19 symptoms can be monitored at home to avoid
overcrowding in healthcare facilities and save hospital beds for more severe cases.

- Providing access to essential healthcare for non-COVID-19 patients

- Monitoring recovering COVID-19 patients

After COVID-19 patients are discharged from the hospital, healthcare providers can use
telehealth technology to follow up with those who might need to continue isolation at home or
be monitored for any sudden deterioration or long-term health effects due to COVID-19.

These two satellite images, one taken on April 19, 2019, and the other on April 13, 2020,
showed the water in the canal’s transitions from a paler, teal coloration to a deeper blue.
In Venice, shortly after lockdown began, water in the canals cleared and experienced greater
water flow. The increase in water clarity was primarily caused by a decrease in boat traffic,
which in turn, allowed the normally stirred up sediment to instead remain at the floor of the
canals.
