Outline for Lesson Plan

Lesson Plan 1: Week 1

SUBJECT: Social Studies

TOPIC: Basic Needs

DURATION: 35 mins

CLASS AGE: Grade One

AGE: 6-7 ROLL: B 10 G7 T 17

OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: (K. S. A)

I. Identify four basic needs after viewing pictures (K)


II. Draw a model representation of a basic need individually (S)
III. Discuss the importance of basic needs such as food, water, clothing and shelter (A)

CONCEPTS: (BOTH HIGH AND LOWER ORDER)

I. Basic needs, shelter, food, clothes, water, survival

GENERALIZATION: (SUMMARY)

I. We need food, water, clothing and shelter in order to survive.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Students are able to relate with the basic needs.

TEACHING MATERIALS: White board markers, White Board, Poster, Picture Cards, Papers,
Pencils

TEACHING/LEARNING STRATEGY: (Specific): Discussion, Group work, viewing


pictures, video

INTRODUCTION: Teacher introduces the lesson by having students watch a short video clip

needs based on the video have just seen.
DEVELOPMENT:

I. Teacher will place the poster on the board and randomly call on students to name the four
basic needs.
II. Student are place into four groups, each group will be given a picture card of a basic
needs, water, shelter, clothing and water. At this point each group will be engaged into a
discussion on the importance of the basic need on the picture card given.
III. Teacher will assign person from each group. Then share to the class the importance of the
basic need displayed on their picture card.
IV. Teacher will record notes on the board using the Frayer Model while students will take
note in note book. Four basic needs are water, shelter, clothing and food. Need is
something that you should have or cannot live without. Wants is something you wish to
have.

CONCLUSION: Students will be given papers to draw and name one basic need.

STUDENT/EVALUATION/TEST: Student will orally express themselves by giving at least


four uses of water. Students will also complete a worksheet.

TEACHER EVALUATION: To be done at the close of the lesson.
