I. Objectives
At the end of the 50-minute period, 80% of the students must be able to:
1. defends a stand on an issue by presenting reasonable arguments supported by properly cited
factual evidences (CS_EN11/12A-EAPP-IIa-d-3)

III. PROCEDURES:
A. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings and attendance:
- The teacher will greet the students and check the attendance by asking the class monitor.
c. Classroom management:
- The teacher will ask the students to arrange their seats and to pick the pieces of paper on the floor.
e. Classroom standard: New Normal Classroom Standard
- The teacher will ask a few students if they know some classroom standard.
B. Review –
C. Motivation- The student will guess the 4pics 1word game. The answer will be “Argument”.

A. The students will guess the type of argument given.

Signs 1. I have a fever because my body temperature reads 40˚C.
Generalization 2. John, a recent graduate from K-12 program struggles to find a job for several months.
Comparison 3. When evaluating smartphone brands, the features, durability and customer reviews shows that
Brand X offers a superior overall experience from Brand Y.
Examples 4. Crime rates in the country are increasing such as, Robbery, Kidnapping, Human Trafficking,
Homicide and etc.

2. Analysis
 Ask the students with the following questions:
A. What part of the activity did you find difficult?
B. How did you feel about the activity?

3. Abstraction
 The Teacher will discuss the 4 types of logical appeals.
 The students will answer the following questions.
√ What were the four arguments presented?
√ How do all of these help in defending our stand?

.4. Application – Think, Pair and Share!


 The students will be paired, each of them will make a stand to defend.

 Instructions: The students will be paired to defend their stance!” They will be given a specific topic/issue and
they will defend it with the use of evidence and logical reasoning that was presented/discussed. Each pair
will choose 1 of the 4 arguments in defending their stand. After the given time, the teacher will choose
several pairs to present their argument.

events or discussions on current events?

IV. EVALUATION/ ASSESSMENT:

INSTRUCTIONS:

“Make a stand on a specific issue about ‘Climate Change’ and use logical reasoning and evidence
to support it.

V. ASSIGNMENT

“Search for online posters, pictures or flyers that shows at least 3 of the 4 arguments presented and
give a little explanation. Put it in a 1 Long bond Paper”
