I. OBECTIVES:

a. Content Standard:
- The learner demonstrates understanding of: African literature as a means of exploring forces that human beings contend with; various
reading styles vis – à-vis purposes of reading; prosodic features that serve as carriers of meaning; ways by which information may be
organized, related, and delivered orally; and parallel structures and cohesive devices in presenting information.

b. Performance Standard:
- The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering a persuasive speech based on a specific topic of interest keeping in mind the
proper and effective use of parallel structures and cohesive devices and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

c. Learning Competencies:
- Use a range of verbs, adjectives and adverbs to convey emotional response or reaction to an issue to persuade (NLCI)
a. identify the appropriate adjectives used in conveying emotions and opinions for persuasion;
b. use appropriate adjectives in expressing emotions and opinions for persuasion; and
c. appreciate the importance of conveying emotional response or reaction to an issue for persuasion

IV. PROCEDURES:

a. Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting the New Lesson


- Refresh students’ knowledge about Verbs Expressing Emotional Responses by providing the activity Arrange the Words. In this activity,
students will arrange the letters in each item to form the verb that fits each sentence.

b. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson


- Ask students’ reaction about the passage “Challenges in life are not entirely negative. They can bring positive effects to you if you
respond to them appropriately.”

c. Presenting Examples/Instances of the Lesson


- Let the students complete the activity Today I feel……
- In this activity, a volunteer will pick out a strip of paper with adjective written on it, then he/she will portray it and the class will guess what
does he/she is conveying.

d. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills #1


- Students will complete the activity FEELmojis
- In this activity, students will complete each statement by giving the correct word using the emoticon as their clue.
- Ask students if what those underlined words in sentences are.

f. Developing Mastery
- Discuss the following:

Adjectives describe nouns and pronouns. An adjective can help tell your emotions on a certain issue.

Adjectives that are used in sentences to convey emotions


1. As your friend, I will be delighted if you share your problems to me.
2. Some teenagers are regretful that they were not able to spend time with their friends before the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

- Let the students read the paragraph and let them identify how the highlighted adjectives used.

As Filipinos, we love to be with our family during dinner time to share our best or worst experiences of the day. 2However,
this practice has been gradually disappearing because of technology. 3Young people would rather use social media to express
themselves for they are embarrassed to share their feelings to their parents. 4On the other hand, parents are somehow guilty of
contributing to the distance felt by their children for some of them are too busy with work such as taking office calls during meal
time, checking emails, or surfing the internet. 5Because of these, there is lesser time for families to spend together. 6This must
change. 7We must not let technology affect the time we spend with them. 8Doing this will create better and stronger relationships.

g. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living


- Let the students do the activity Caption the Pic. (Group Work)
- In this activity, a picture will be shown to the students. Students will express what they will feel about the picture in two to three (2 – 3)
sentences using adjectives.

h. Making Generalizations and Abstractions about the Lesson


- To sum up the lesson, let the students complete the following passages:
 After practicing my skills in this lesson, I learned that adjectives _____________________________________________________.
 I found out that adjectives are important in expressing emotional responses because _____________________________________.
 Are you now ready to use adjectives in giving your responses to a certain issue?

“Expressing your emotions is a good practice to stay emotionally healthy.”

a. Writer: Write a short paragraph that expresses what you feel about the idea the upcoming Panagbunga Festival 2022 using adjectives.
b. Singer: Compose a short song that expresses what you feel about the idea Teenage Pregnancy using adjectives.
c. Actor/Actress: Perform a short drama that shows a typical Filipino Family Lifestyle by portraying adjectives that convey emotions.
