Paragraph 1
Blaming the government and concerned state institutions has become
the favorite pastime of many Filipinos on social media. People tend to look
outward and put blame on others, instead of focusing on what they can do
on their own to help curb the spread of the disease. Despite the consistent
public calls of local and international government and health agencies, some
people still choose to ignore protocols in practicing the minimum health
standards.

Paragraph 2
Read the paragraph below. Underline the sentence that conveyed positive
message and box the sentence that conveyed negative sentence.
1. Political conflict in Korea resulted to the division of the region into two
countries, the South Korea and the North Korea. Even so, these two countries
still share the same culture and traditional values. Korea now is divided by
boundaries in which citizens in each country are not allowed to cross such
boundary. However, despite such boundary, Korea is still united by culture.
9
2. Korean trend among Filipino teenagers has no negative effect because it is just
a fad at this moment. This trend will give opportunity for Filipinos to learn a
thing or two about how good Korean culture is. However, many believe that
because of this trend, Filipino teenagers forget their sense of identity. This may
mean that they could wish to be a Korean instead of being a Filipino.

You are doing great! This time, you already use your learning on positive and
negative message in real life situations as you enrich your skill in reading and in
writing. Just keep on striving!
Read carefully the two short stories below and write the negative and
positive message that each story conveyed.
Once upon a time, there were two brothers, Nolbu and Heungbu.
Nolbu was rich but greedy. Heungbu was poor but generous. One day,
Heungbu found a sparrow with a broken leg. He helped the bird and took it
to his house. The bird got better and flew away. Later, the sparrow brought
three gourd seeds to Heungbu. The gourd became so big. When Heungbo
cut it open a lot of gold coins came out. Nolbu heard the story and he also
wanted the gold coins. He found a sparrow and broke its leg. The poor bird
ran away and later brought three gourd seeds. The seeds grew and Nolbu
cut them open. Suddenly the devils came out and started beating Nolbu.
Nolbu learned a lesson that he should not be greedy.

go and have a good time with their neighbors but they were nervous to show
their face. They got a good idea. He made a fake nose by candle, she sewed
her mouth. At the party, they talked near the stove. Then his nose began to
melt. His wife laughed upon seeing him and her mouth became huge. They
