Precast Hollow core slabs
Precast prestressed hollow core slabs are manufactured
mechanically over heated steel beds and then cut to the required
lengths. It offers. besides thc friendly environmental fabrication
process, the following known prefabrication benefits:

" Speed of site erection

Absence of any intermediate propping
Top and bottom volumes ready for other trade
works upon casting of the 6 cm concrete topping
Semi, if not totally finished soffit
" Voids available for services (electricity etc)
" This type of slab is strongly recommended for spans of 6 m
up to 15 m and can sustain heavy loads

LIFTING HOOKS

To make things even more attractive, SOPREL came up

with the "LIFTING HOOKS" approved system that
offers the following bonus:
Ease of handling, both during offloading and site
erection.
More importantly, the structure integrity is preserved
since, with the standard process, the slab has to be ripped
after offloading to enable the removal of belts causing
either the distortion of the stirrups or, at worse,
their removal.

Preslabs could come either as reinforced concrete planks of
generally a width of 240 cm and spans of 4 up to óm or prestressed
concrete planks in standard 240cm width and spans of usually 6 to

The slipforming process, invented and patented by the founder of Soprel M. Sechoy, has been our preferred
production method from day one some 40 years ago. Ever since, SOPREL Engineers and Technicians

SOPREL markets its products and its technological know-how
around the globe for the benefit of other concrete producers.
Itdesigns and manufactures acomprehensive range of concrete
production machines, installs complete production lines
and provides technical support to external customers.
Know-how transfer is one of the strengths of SOPREL which
gives it the ability of planning the entire production lines or even
complete factories. It is comprised of aslipformer, atopping
machine, a multi-angle sawing machine, a multí-functional
trolley, a transporter with silos bus machine and a Cleaning
machine. SOPREL grants customners the advantages of flexibility
and ease-of-use making iteasy to handle and operate.

Post Tensioning Systems
Soprel uses the well proven International system developed by DYWIDAG
Systems lnternational (DSl) of Munich, Germany. The DSI system is
approved by the European Technical Approval (ETA). Such tests are an
additional guarantee of excellence and competence in this field.

This new technology enhances concrete strength under both compressive and tensile
stresses. It delivers the desired prestress force, durability and stiffness. As an engi
neering solution, post-tensioning is designed to exacting standards and code
requirements.

Soprel has shown an excellent record and offers increased reliability. PT is widely
used in the construction field including: buildings, bridges, parking structures,
repair, rehabilitation and strengthening, rock and soil anchors, and slab on ground.

In bonded systems, two or more strands are inserted into a metal or plastic duct that
isembedded in the concrete. The strands are stressed with a large, multi-strand jack
an anchored in a common anchorage device. The duct is then filled with a cementi
tious grout that provides corrosion protection to the strand and bonds the tendon to
the conçrete surrounding the duct.

Glass Reinforced Concrete -(GRC)

In the 1960's,prominent glass manufacturer "Pilkington" developed
an innovative process of mixing alkaliresistant chopped fiber strands
with a cement/sand slurry,providing a light weight and durable
alternative to concrete.

The founder of SOPREL, in his quality of managing partner of

U.A.E's first and largest "precaster", was one of Pilkington's original
licensees for the production of GRC.
All the experience he accumulated over years producing many
hundreds of thousands square meters of cladding panels, claustra
and lost formwork is, since the year 2003, available to SOPREL's
clients.
GRC has a wide flexibility in design and manufacture (sprayed or
moulded), enabling the reproduction of most architectural styles
and features. GRC can replicate virtually any surface details, as
well as the appearance of most natural materials.!

One of the most versatile technique is to cast the

composite material in moulds manufactured from
rubber, timber or Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic
(GRP/FRP).
Since most GRC products skin thickness is in the 10 to 15 mm
range, they are many times lighter and slimmer than similar
concrete products, therefore enabling the packing
and shipping of GRC elements to far away destinations.
Inthe past few years Soprel Liban has delivered a large
quantity of GRCto clients in Nigeria, Iraq and elsewhere in
the world.
