This month we will be learning On Grandparents Day, students should
about growth and changes
that take place all around us
in the spring. We will be
learning all about plants and
watching as seeds transform into living
plants.
A Backward Glance
In April:
• We have been busy rehearsing our songs
and a story for Grandparent’s Day.
• We enjoyed dressing up in all of our
western gear, learned a cowboy dance
and watched Mr. Poole rope some
‘cows’.

A Sneek Peek
Tuesday, May 21st is Hot Lunch. *Please note
that Hot Lunch this month is on a Tuesday
due to our Safety City field trip. If you would
like to order, make sure you order before
midnight on Thursday, May 16th.
Thursday, May 30th is Chip Day. If you did
not order pre-order chips (for the whole
year) and your child would like to order
some, please be sure to send $1.00 in a
labeled envelope/baggie in your child’s file
folder.
Kindergarten Grandparent’s Day
Grandparent’s Day is only a few days away,
Thursday, May 9th! We are looking forward
to a wonderful time with our special guests.

and will be dismissed at the regular home
time.
*Grandparents should arrive by 9:50 a.m.
and go directly to the gym. There will be
signs and a hostess to show them the way.
The program will begin at 10:00 am.
The students will be providing
entertainment through songs, poems, and
stories. After the program, we will visit and
enjoy some refreshments together. To
complete the morning, our guests will be
shown around the classroom. We expect to
be wrapped up by 11:30 a.m.
Please pray for:
• The safety of grandparents/guests
that are traveling.
• The students and grandparent’s
health!
• A special time for the students and
their guests.
Volunteer Appreciation
Our school would like to show its
appreciation to our volunteers during the
“Volunteer Appreciation” on Thursday, May
23rd at 10:00 a.m. here at SCA elementary.
Invitations will be sent out in early May.
Safety City Field Trip
On Thursday, May 23rd we will be going to
Safety City. The children will be learning
about street safety rules and procedures.

A Few Reminders:

• Even though we are so eager for warm
weather, please remember to still send a
coat, hats, mitts and splash pants with
your child. Our playground always
seems to be a few degrees cooler.
• If your child does not already have an
extra set of clothes in their backpack,
please send one each day as they often
need to change their socks and pants
after recess, this time of year.
• As the weather gets nicer, the students
want to get out to the playground as
quick as possible. Therefore, the best
outdoor shoes are Velcro or slip ons.
