Welcome to InaACC 2024!
The field of cardiology has grown tremendously in the past two decades.
No longer are cardiology fellows only pursuing the traditional subspecialties of
intervention, electrophysiology, or heart failure, but they are actively creating
their own niches. The newest area of interest that has caught the attention of
cardiologists is cardiac critical care, a subspecialty that is in its infancy but
growing in popularity. Patients are admitted to the Intensive Cardiovascular
Care Unit (ICCU) for serious, acute, and/or unstable cardiac conditions that
require round-the-clock monitoring and specialized cardiovascular therapy.
ICCU are no longer filled with patients who have had a STEMI requiring a week-
long admission, but rather those with decompensated heart failure or
cardiogenic shock requiring mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
Unfortunately, rural residents often have limited access to healthcare services
to address cardiovascular and other health concerns. A scarcity of primary and
specialty care providers, long travel distances to services, and unreliable
transportation together create an environment in which individuals often do
not receive the care necessary to maintain optimal health. Understanding the
specific challenges facing rural communities is critical in guiding policy related
to cardiovascular health.
It is our program from the Working Group on Acute and Intensive
Cardiovascular Care of the Indonesian Heart Association to maintain and
improve core competencies of all health-care personnel working in this field
from urban to rural area. This coming year is the sixth time we organize this bi-
annual meeting, exploring along the theme “Novel and Integrated Evidence
based Management of Intensive and Acute Cardiovascular Care”. In this
meeting we will provide a rich scientific program where there is something for
everyone; cardiologists, other specialists, general physicians, cardiovascular
nurses, intensive care nurses, cardiovascular technicians, research
scientist and members of allied professional. We cordially
invite all the stakeholders in the acute and intensive
cardiovascular care to participate to develop this field
together.

Best Regards
