• The ASHRAE-UN Environment (UNEP) had just


started last July 21, 2020 the kick-off Meeting for
“Sustainable RAC Refrigerant and Management Best
Practices Guide”
• This Guide will be given to Article 5 Countries for
Free by UN Environment and ASHRAE.
• And in the pool of Authors and Contributors Two are
coming from the Philippines, Manuel Azucena who
is with UNEP Middle East Office and Cesar Luis
Lim of ASHRAE Philippine Chapter.

“Sustainable RAC Refrigerant and Management Best


Practices Guide” Chapters are as follows
1. Safe storage and proper handling of refrigerants
2. Periodic leak checking and proper documentation
3. Fault detection and preventive maintenenance (PM)
and checklist for maintaining equipment
4. Energy Efficient Operation

5. Proper commissioning and recommissioning


practices to optimize system performance
6. Minimum required servicing equipment and tools
7. Proper disposal of equipment and reclamation of
refrigerant at end of product life

The First Guide draft will be submitted by November
2020 and final approval would be done in the ASHRAE
Chicago Winter Meeting in 2021
