What is human resource management?

The process of employing people, motivating ,evaluating and developing their resources and
compensating them to achieve organisational goals.

1. Employment\staffing.
2. Human Resource Development.

HUMAN RESOUCE OR HUMAN CAPITAL?

1. Human resources are a set of individuals who make up the workforce of the
organisation ,business sector or the economy.
2. “Human Capital” is sometimes used synonymously with human resources although human
capital typically refers to a narrower view, i.e. the knowledge individuals embody and can
contribute to an organisation.

induction, transfer, promotion, demotion, termination, training and development, layoffs
and retrenchment, wage and salary administration, incentives, productivity, etc.
2. The welfare aspect- working conditions and amenities such as canteens, creches, rest rooms,
lunchrooms, transport, education, medical help, health and safety, washing facilities and
cultural activities, etc.
3. The Industrial aspect- Union management relation, joint consultation, negotiating collective
bargaining, grievance handling, disciplinary action, settlement of disputes, etc.
