Reader: Si Ma Guang and the Water Jar

Objectives: 1) To learn about the vocabulary items
2) To understand the main gist’s of the book
3) To practice how to use pictorial and contextual clues to work out meaning of unfamiliar words
4) To arouse the interest of reading through e-tools on the Quizlet and Learning Management System
(Nearpod)

Learning Task Resources


 Set up – Admin
- T. to log introduce lessons, hand out ipads, SS to into nearpod.
- Introduce topic of the lesson
Brainstorm (quiz on nearpod) – (To brainstorm prior knowledge in a fun way.)  Nearpod
Self-Learning Time
 Ask Ss in the collaboration ‘If you see that your friend is in danger, will you help? Why or why not? Find
some Ss to discuss.
Motivation (To arouse students’ interest and introduce the topic unit)  Nearpod
 T. shows the short video of “Faith in Humanity” just explain the video and ask Ss questions will they do
the same without hesitation.
PHONICS TIME (According to P6 LET)  Neapod
 T. will show them compound words and explained to them what is a word stress for 2 syllable and 1
syllable
 Will form students in groups and will hand them out paper and they will have to discuss and draw the
stresses on the words given
Vocab Building (Matching) – (To provide students with an opportunity to practice the pronunciation of the
target vocab. at their own pace and in a fun way.)
Core Teaching Time
 T. demonstrates the pronunciation of some of the vocabulary in ‘Si Ma Guang” –
 Ss will spend 2 mins matching game to read the words and play some word games.
Book Reading - Chapter Three (P14-17) – (To get to know about more of the book)  Nearpod
 Before we read the book, Teacher will show them a slide about Si Ma Guang that he was poet,
politician and a writer. The story that we read was real story what happened when he was a young boy.
 In another slide, we read the blurb at the back and the story text type.
 Ask them the title and book cover and retold by whom.
 T. starts to read P.2-5 then ask questions.
 Re-read the pages with the Ss
Kahoot Kahoot
 Consolidate what they have learnt through quiz.
Self-Learning Time
 Assessment the understanding of the students of the book
