Start the day by reading the book A Visitor


for Bear by Bonny Becker
In this book we will focus on the
predictable aspects of this book. The
students will work on repreating “small and
gray and bright eyed”.

I will ask the students a variety of


comprehension questions before, during and
after the book.
We will focus and note the ‘p’ sound in
various words and we will work on seeing
the word out and set.

Tier 2 word: cup

Writing

The students will take time to do a spelling


scavenger hunt of the sight words/ heart
words we saw in the book. The student will
have their own lined paper (journal) and we
will walk through the room (or slap one on
the table).

When the student spots a word she will


have to say it and then write it on her paper.

Practice spelling: pig, bag, run, jet, tap, cat,
get, big, fun

*We will focus on the /t/, /u/, /d/ /e/ sounds.


Along with letter-sound correspondence.

Repeated Reading

Read through
1) Teacher read
2) Choral read
3) Teacher reads again.

*Because the student can’t read, we will


spend time reading together or practicing
repeated reading.
