7.1. Risk Analyses Methodology
This Method Statement shall be used and reviewed following site tour to confirm hazards, hazard
classification and corrective actions. This document shall also form the basis for Hazard Identification
Studies.
❖ STEP 1- Project Description& Scope
The Project description and scope shall be confirmed against the Contract to ensure
coverage of the major work elements and complexity.
In this case:
This Method Statement is intended to exclusively address the HSE controls that shall be in
place related to Blasting and Painting Activities at the Lay-down Area and CPF Area.
❖ STEP 2 – Hazard Identification Review
Under the hazard groupings of:
• Personal/Personnel Protection Potential Hazards
• Interface Potential Hazards
• Environmental Potential hazards
❖ STEP 3 – Probability/Credibility and Quantification
Each potential hazard shall be reviewed to determine whether it is credible and based on
best judgment.
The significance of the hazard may be different depending on whether safety,
environmental impact, life or asset loss are considered.
❖ STEP 4 – Hazard Classification & Corrective Action
Each hazard carried forward from Step 2 shall be evaluated to determine:
• The potential causes
• The consequence arising from each cause
• Potential escalation
The corrective actions identify the measures in place (design/procedure) to prevent, mitigate and/or
control the hazard.
The hazards identified are classified as 1, 2 or 3 according to their degree of potential human impact
considering severity and probability (i.e. from most severe and probable to least severe and probable).

Hazard areas are Identified and Colour Coded:

Class "1" Hazards
A condition or practice likely to cause permanent disability, loss of life or body part and/or
extensive loss of structure, equipment or material.

Class “2” Hazards

A condition or practice likely to cause serious injury or illness (resulting in temporary
disability) or property damage that is disruptive, but less severe than Class “1”.

Class "3" Hazards

Permit and Toolbox Talks prepared and mitigated thru’ to the construction team(s) that
will perform these tasks.
❖ STEP 7 – Corrective / Preventative Action
Job Safety Analyses Report:
This report shall be utilized to identify the working activities and associated risk involved
during Blasting and Painting Work and a preventative and/or corrective action shall be
identified to ensure that the work is carried out in a safe manner to prevent injury, loss of
life, equipment damage or harm to the environment

Independent on substrate temperature the minimum temperature of the mixed base and curing agent is 10 °C.
Lower temperature may require additional thinner to reach correct application viscosity. Additional thinner gives
lower sag resistance and slower curing. If addition of thinner is required, this shall be done after mixing of the
two components.

Thinner: Jotun Thinner No. 17

Thinning is not normally required. Consult the local representative for advice during application in extreme
