Analysis (15pts each)

1. How does Suzuki Method differ from other methods of teaching music to
children?

Well Suzuki Method have some differences from the other

methods of teaching such as the Orff method and the Kodaly
method. They have differences because in the first place these
three was developed by different people. Where Suzuki Method has
more focus on the instrument violin, but now it is now applicable to
other instruments including the piano, flute, and guitar. While on
the other hand the instruments used in Orff method include
xylophones, glockenspiels marimbas, metallophones and other
instruments like various-sized drums (timpani) and recorders. In
Kodaly method where the main instrument used was the voice.
Some of the difference of the three is that in the Orff method it
teaches music in four stages which is the imitation, exploration,
improvisation, and composition. and this method also has a
natural progression. In the Kodaly method begins with sight-
reading, mastering basic rhythms, and learning pitch with a "hand-
sign" method and this method is also known as a system of
rhythmic syllables to teach steady beat, tempo, and meter. But in
Suzuki Method we'll see the big difference between of the three
because Suzuki Method applied the basic principles of language
acquisition to music learning that can be called as the mother
tongue approach. In Suzuki parents are also involved in this
method because parents frequently learn the instrument alongside
their children, serving as musical role models and providing a
positive learning environment in which the child can succeed.

2. In your own words, what is the philosophy of the Suzuki Method?

The philosophy of the Suzuki Method state that our talent in music
is not within us after we are born because it is a ability that we can
develop as we grow. We all know that we can’t sing after our
mother give birth to us.

We all can develop our talent in music if we are trained at the

young age because learning and having a talent in music just how
learning how to speak our mother tongue. Every child has its own
endless potential. In Suzuki philosophy said that this method
purpose is not about teaching music it is just how to be high
minded person and to be a good citizen. Because if the child see
and hear how good is music is, it might have the chance that the
children would do the same thing.

You can do a lot of music, if you really do love music. Music is

just like your family, your boyfriend /girlfriend and your friends you
can do whatever for them because you love them. We all know that
we are all born with environment, with hereditary physiological
differences but we should always put in mind that the growing and
development of our abilities are always depends to our
environment that we have.
