MANAGING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING WITH GOOGLE CLASSROOM

In recent years education has undergone a great change due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19,
many institutions had to stop attending classrooms, which generated many problems and difficulties in both
student learning and teaching by teachers. In view of this situation, the teaching process had to continue and
new strategies had to be sought to solve this problem and also to be of great help in the teaching work.

For many teachers, it has been a challenge in their professional life to be at the forefront of technology and
to know timely digital tools when providing knowledge to their students in various academic areas. However,
there is nothing impossible that allows a person to learn in a globalized world and with a vast amount of
knowledge on the Internet.

According to Maican (2021) "the use of digital resources as alternative methods for the development and
continuity of educational processes is no longer an option but a necessity". In particular, one of the tools
most used by teachers and students is Google Classroom because it is considered easy to access and free;
useful for learning. Besides, Google Classroom allows collaborative and cooperative learning since students
can participate autonomously, managing their activities and reviewing the material that their teachers leave
on the platform at any time they wish.

To access Google Classroom, you must have an email account with the Gmail extension, and to enter you
must be located in the upper right part of the screen very close to where the email account icon appears,
right in the box where all the Google apps are located. To create the virtual classrooms, you must make sure
to choose the "I am a teacher" option, then at the top right you will see an icon of "a cross or a Plus" that
allows you to create virtual classrooms, it is important to give a name to each class.

One of the advantages of Google Classroom in teaching English allows interaction and motivation of students
in learning English because you can share links to quizzes, videos and any other useful material to reinforce
the knowledge of students. Also, the tasks or activities that are shared in Google Classroom can be scheduled
at the time you want them to be published. Add a rubric for automatic review and even activate the originality
option. As for the option of people who can be part of the class, the Google Classroom platform allows
students, parents and tutors to access and be part of the class for monitoring and managing activities.

Google Classrroom allows teachers to manage their time and space to be able to perform successfully and
proactively, since from the same platform they can connect to Drive as a repository of all the material that is
shared, Google Calendar to manage scheduling of materials and meetings and Google Meet that allows direct
access to classes with a unique link.

In that sense, Google Classroom is one of the digital tools that Google proposed as a solution to impart
knowledge without barriers and that in the learning of a foreign language such as English allows to reinforce
and put into practice with creativity and in a fun way. As English teachers, we must look for many teaching
strategies in order to achieve the competencies of the students' profile of graduation and put into practice
what the Basic Education Curriculum of the Ministry of Education (Minedu) establishes in the Competency N°
28 "Develops in virtual environments generated by ICTs.
