 Demonstrates the development of a person through the chronological retelling of an important
event
 Used to recall an event. It arranges info in chronological (time) order; events in a story just as
they happened
 The narration discloses a specific viewpoint, contains vivid details that support the story, and
typically expresses first or third person perspective

 Explains abstract ideas by providing clear, specific, and concrete examples. It uses examples to
show, explain, or prove a point

locales, concepts or individual persons or things to make your point.

 If not described fully, it is descriptive
 Also called an exposition, it gives information
 It explains a subject, gives directions, or shows how something happens. Oftentimes, this kind of
a paragraph is used as a component of other types
 It is created in order to clarify or explain a problem or a phenomenon. Writing exposition
paragraphs requires strict focus on evidence and objective language
